What is a twin entry turbo (in the context of a turbo mr2)? I've seen them mentioned in ads and wondered what it means.

Thanks,

Mark

I thought that the CT26 was the standard turbo though. I'd assumed, as it was mentioned in the ads, that a twin-entry turbo was something non-standard. Is that not the case?

Thanks,

Thanks for the information.

They do seem to be astonishingly good value for money.
Any top purchase tips/better years than others?

Thanks,

Mark

Thanks for the detailed info. Hope you don't mind a few more questions...

I've seen this ad...
www.imoc.co.uk/sale/display.asp?SaleID=2916
...given that it's a k-reg is this a rev 2?

Is the LSD standard or an option?

I like the look of the aftermarket alloys on the above car but do the wider tyres adversely affect the handling?

On the handling front, when the back does slide is it catchable (I've had a few lively rwd cars such as my tvr s3 and an s13 200sx turbo so am used to rwd but have never had a mid-engined car)?

Thanks once again.

Mark

I'll see if I can get along to one of the meets although won't be able to make it to castle combe. I'm spending all my time getting my tvr ready for sale at the moment but after next weekend I'll be able to devote more time to looking for a car.

Thanks again for the information.

Thank you very much for the offer Umar, it's very kind of you. I'll finish off the tvr first and find out how much money I have to play with and give you a shout.

A friend (who has a tt300zx) has suggested I may get a newer car for the same money (about 6k ish) if I direct import a condition 4 car from Japan. Has anyone had any experience of this process? I've had an import prelude before so am not worried by the concept of imports but have never gone 'direct' before.

Thanks,

Mark

What I meant was directly imported as in getting an agent to find you a condition 4 car in black (for example) and ship it over rather than buy one already imported to the uk by a dealer and pay the extra markup.

Andy Mac said: Erm... yeah...I did... I chose the one I wanted, and had to wait 2 months for it to arrive and go through sva etc! Thats how he does his business... he sources cars for you, with a spec you give him, and he will go out.. find em.. send piccies etc... and you pick, and he does the rest... You just give him a bundle of notes for his trouble.
Oh, gotcha, sorry, I misunderstood. I'm not the most patient of people when it comes to waiting Did you get a better car for your money by doing it that way?

Oh... and I finally got the freakin picture thing working on profile... so you can have a peek now too!
Doesn't seem to be working at the moment

Thanks for the offer but my budget is 6k.

I assume by your user name you've had a 200sx s13 in the past, how does the mr2 compare with that?

dave_s13 said: Yep used to have a K reg s13, they're totally different.

The S13 is more of a GT car, a bit soft but comfortable for long distances. The MR2 is a sports car, rock hard and pin sharp handling.
Good, my old s13 was fast enough but handled like cr*p (probably down to the mods of the previous owner).

I saw a 91 import this weekend with 47k miles on it in excellent condition (grade 3.5-4) with leather and climate control for 3995 at an importer which although it was red and wasn't a t-top was incredible value. Sold as I waited for a test drive though.

Right, finally got around to test driving one and liked it a lot.

Quick question... do the 16" and 17" aftermarket alloys make much difference to the handling on these cars?

Thanks,

Mark
