Why dont BMW do Imola Red any more?

Well, as a standard / optional colour anyway.
Any time i see a recent BMW where its been selected as an "individual" colour it really works.
Much better than the orangy red and metallic red they're doing...
Depends on the car. Imola red does look great on some cars, but it looks absolutely hideous on an E38 7 series in my opinion. Any time i see a recent BMW where its been selected as an "individual" colour it really works.

I've only ever seen Sakhir orange on a current shape M6 and I think it looks absolutely magnificent.

Yes would agree. Doesnt work on a seven, but i've seen it on an e60 535d M Sport and it looked well.I've only ever seen Sakhir orange on a current shape M6 and I think it looks absolutely magnificent.
Just "odd" they dont do a good strong red.
I know, most cars only seem to come in white, black or a shade of silver in between.
Still I managed to pick up an Imola Red 325Ti as a daily driver a couple of weeks ago for the days I rest my Z4C, which happens to be Ruby Black albeit with Pearl Grey interior so I have finally got colour sorted after 6+ years in a silver 123d!

They still do some interesting colours. Ruby black is still being done, is it not? Absolutely gorgeous with a cream leather interior.
Yeah lovely colour but like Carbon Black needs to be kept very clean for best effect.Wifes current z4 is Sapphire Black, so she'd be looking something a bit more different come time to change.
Scuse the hijack but I saw Tanzanite Blue in the flesh ,what a colour!!

I noticed recently on the BMW car configurator that the 5 series in particular has a shockingly bland selection of colours - black, white, silver and grey, I think with a token blue or red?
absolutely....was trying to push the button on a 5 touring but everytime i look at the colours i get reall depressed .Ive seen out and about a red touring but its always a 3 series, they look so similar i get excited then depressed again nwhen i see the back
Was even totting up today how much to repaint a new 5 series

Probably would have agreed with you before on the E38 but now that I've got an imola red donor car parked in my drive I have to disagree. I'm still not sure why I like it so much now - perhaps because its such a rare colour for a big car like this ?I've only ever seen Sakhir orange on a current shape M6 and I think it looks absolutely magnificent.

You could always put some of the £5k discount towards a BMW Individual colour and get the perfect car.Ive seen out and about a red touring but its always a 3 series, they look so similar i get excited then depressed again nwhen i see the back

The individual colours on the 5 are just as drab....unless there are more one can get that im unaware of!!
There are different levels of 'Individual'.- First you have the standard non individual colours.
- Next you have standard colours that cost a premium, depending on the model, metallic paint etc. still not individual.
- Next up are the regular Individual colours, they are listed in the on line configurator for example.
- Finally, you can have any colour you want. The price will depend on the colour.

Local dealership has a Dakar yellow M5 in it....nom.
Really? Surely that's worth a return trip for a photo. Ruby Black 7 series and Moonstone 6 GC in my local dealer today. Great to see something a bit different.
Lighting makes it look darker than it should, but nomdideenomm
