They are £310 brand new from reputable suppliers on Ebay. Make sure you get the Genuine Hella ones.
Also...
Don't forget the newer wide grille as well. About 40 quid. Plus if you've got an SE, change the front bumper. Which means you've got to colour code the rub strips to make it look right.
Then get the Hella CELIS rear lights as well to finish it off.
Dont do half a job or it'll look like a tarted up prefacelift. Nothing looks more 'huh' than an E39 with facelift front lights but the old prefacelift bumper.

Actually, why not just get a facelifted 530i?
Buying a new car is a little more expensive than throwing a few hundred quid at lights for your old car surely?ETA Linky McLink.

So what exactly does the Angel Eyes set include? Do you get the new clear headlight covers with it or are they separate, and is the headlight and indicator cover all one piece? And what should I be paying for a face lifted bumper? Will the new bumper just slot in over the standard foglight fittings, or did they move them about a bit?

It's an entirely new headlight - you get a bracket to allow fitment to prefacelift cars and a wiring harness.
I see, well thats good, means I don't have to worry about additional bits and pieces. Hopefully it isn't too difficult to fit, I'm no d.i.y expert but I'm not a total idiot either! Thanks mate...and thanks for all your previous comments about my upcoming purchase, you have been quite helpful, as well as all the other PH'ers who have posted.
So does anyone know about the face lifted bumper?
I.e How much I should be paying for one, are they availible in all the original pre face lift (1996-2000) colours or will I have to get it painted and will it fit without adjustments on a pre face lift E39?
Like [TW]Fox says, if I'm going to do it, I may as well do it properly. I would prefer genuine BMW parts.

If you are going to change bumpers you might as well go for Sport bumpers surely?
Prefacelift SE rubbing strips on the doors and bumpers are black plastic. On the facelift they are colour coded.
But on the Sport they remained black even after the facelift, so by going for a Sport bumper not only does it look way better but you wont need to replace your side rubbing strips.

The only thing I worry about about changing to the sport bumpers (which I would like to do) is getting the right colour. I'm not sure if the face lifted E39s were in the same colour scheme as the pre face lift models, therefore I am not sure I can actually purchase one in the right colour (I want a silver car). I guess I could get it sprayed if I can't buy one in the right colour, but I am unsure of what this would cost. I'm without a doubt getting the newer grill, angel eyes and new rear lights and I like the wheels on your car so I may eventually get them too.Prefacelift SE rubbing strips on the doors and bumpers are black plastic. Worth buying a car with the right bits on in the first place - it'll be more desirable when you come to resell than one that's been tarted up, and it'll probably be much cheaper (those M-Parallel alloys are surprisingly expensive second hand).
Back to the original question - has anyone replaced pre-facelift Xenons with angel eye Xenons? Is it as straightforward as replacing the normal lights?
