By mountings, I take it you mean these?: https://www.amazon.co.uk/BMW-Genuine-Absorber-Supp...

(Still trying to work out if there's a decent aftermarket alternative.)
Yes, that's them. I've tried a few aftermarket replacement for BMW rubber bits in the suspension system - I'm not impressed and returning them all back to OE/OEM (other peoples experience may differ, but that's my experience so far anyway!)

Easier just to get the OEM repair kits from Cotswold I found. You'll probably also need the extra shock absorber/ cover.

Got sick of looking at questionable parts on ebay and did exactly that. Two sets of genuine top mounts and bump stops came to about two thirds the cost of the actual shocks, but such is life!

N52 Manual looking good in white, seems decent value if not expecting perfection.

Not much better on a laptop.

All free websites at some point need to get paid. I go into the preferences and turn off ads. It's not great but it's better without.

Fitted my new rear shocks yesterday, which wasn't too bad a job apart from some faff with the trim. This video proved useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dyzh7fQZOUU

If it helps anyone, my car is a 2006 E91 M-Sport and I fitted Bilstein B4 shocks (PN 19-135052), BMW top mounts (PN 33522406280), and the BMW dust cover/bump stop kit (PN 33506773628).

I stupidly hadn't bought lower mounts and they turned out to be in bits, so I ended up making a dash to GSF on my motorbike for some nondescript Topran parts. First rule of DIY car maintenance: do not attempt without a backup vehicle!

The shock that had failed was seriously buggered. It came apart in my hands when I removed it and pissed the remainder of its oil over my kneeler and driveway.rolleyes My fault for not taking better precautions.

nice DIY job, but that old shock looks horrible how many miles had it done?

The car is on 104k and I assume the shocks are original. I agree, they look pretty bad! The other side hadn't failed yet but was not a pretty sight.

I bet it drove nicer afterwards.... I did mine and wondered just how long it had driven with a buggered damper.

When was the last MOT done? Hard to imagine that shock wasn't a stained with oil for a fair while.

MOT'd in January. I don't think it was leaking before it actually burst. It leaked a significant amount of oil when it failed last weekend. Bear in mind this wasn't just a seal failure, it was the actual body of the shock disintegrating.

My old LCI E91 335i is back up for sale. Great car with a nice spec, and one of a handful of manual LCI cars.

Crikey that lot was in a right state. A fair amount of what came off mine was apparently pretty shagged, despite no issues with MOT.

I do wonder, when I see how much lower a lot of older E91s sit compared to mine now it's refreshed, how many of them are riding around on knackered chassis'

Now I'm starting to worry - mine has dome 135K!

Mind you when I took the winters off in April I didn't see anything as sh*gged as that!
