Got mine through the other day for a 2001 e39 530d touring - same day they old girl made it through her MOT
Anybody stopped daily usage until the recall was completed? Seems the risk is more likely for certain climates (hot and humid) but worth doing?
Nope, just get it in & sorted ASAP Anybody stopped daily usage until the recall was completed? Seems the risk is more likely for certain climates (hot and humid) but worth doing?

Great username ... literally. Anybody stopped daily usage until the recall was completed? Seems the risk is more likely for certain climates (hot and humid) but worth doing?

So ... now down to painting all the rusty bits with Kurust to help slow down the rot ... anybody know if Kurust is safe if it goes on the paintwork or will it strip it?
Have a look at the Bilt Hamber anti rust products (deox gel and Hydrate 80), much more effective than Kurust IME.johnwilliams77 said:

All 3 of my E39s had the airbag recall & all replaced
It’s a necessity as the airbags fitted were dangerous & involved in a few deaths unfortunately.
Plenty of info out there, do your research

Any opinions on these lenses? I haven't dropped the vendor a message but I can't see how they'd fix

You'd have to take your headlights to bits. Early ones are glued together with a glue that softens at high temp then they can be prized apart. Late ones (about 2002>) used a different type of glue and can't (easily) be split.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Estate-Saloon-headlight...
The new lenses would attach with a combination of glue and clips moulded into the plastic.

Bugger! I've got the "3 dash lights from hell".
I know can send off the electronic section of the pump to get renewed, but does anyone know if I could get a spare, known working, complete pump (same year of manufacture) coded to the car?
TIA.
Hi - I got a spare abs module off a 2000M5. I never fitted/coded it, and went for a new one. I know can send off the electronic section of the pump to get renewed, but does anyone know if I could get a spare, known working, complete pump (same year of manufacture) coded to the car?
TIA.

Rich, apologies for the tardy reply ... 'only seeing this now! Thanks anyway.I sent the module off for repair, but, regrettably, it was not able to be rectified - I only got to speak with a sales person, not technical, so I don't know why, exactly.
I have a "spares" 2001 e39, so I have the bits I need, but just wondered about getting another one coded. The CV malarkey put paid to finding out about the coding, but, due to the MoT extensions, I didn't have to worry too much.
I suspect that, shortly, I'll be able to find out.
How much was a new module?
Into 4 Figures, I'm guessing.
