Is the Alpina register and forum down at the moment?

Nearly two weeks now - it must be pretty buggered if the IT geeks can't get anything to work at all. There's a wealth of information on there which would be lost forever.
Forum5 went down about two years ago when the owner was suddenly killed in a car accident but with the familys help some others were able to resurrect it.
BMWLand from a few years ago died completely with all the information lost...

Love Alpinas Not mine sadly but the summer of 04 drove for 4 months a new cherry red cream interior B3s convertible Sytner had a small showroom in Gerrards Cross Bucks and had a few pre reg cherry reds in there should have been £50k but all 40k but when it comes to Sytner its worse than the adage of losing money on cars ...premium when you are buying ,niche market when you are selling

This is the rub when it comes to my purchase. The number of Alpinas that have been for sale for over 6 months is a concern. I'd really like an F11 or F31 in some flavour. However, I change my cars regularly, and I think that Alpinas tend to be a longer ownership proposition than a regular BMW. I don't like the thought of being stuck with a car for months on end if I'm looking to sell it. That F11 looks nice, but it is now 7 years old, pre facelift, and this finance example shows why you have to really want an Alpina D5 over say a 535d..
A 2012 535d touring with £3k down and over 36 months would be nearly 1/3 of the price each month. £330 a month is a hell of a difference to £950 a month.
Lovely, lovely cars but you have got to really want to be in that exclusive club.

Absolutely. It doesn't make financial sense, especially with late F11 535d's fetching £8-10k less. Some would argue that's missing the point of the Alpina, but a decent suspension upgrade and remap for approx. £2k all in, would get you there or thereabouts.
Ah but thats not an Alpina is it........ha ha only being ironic I know what you mean. Mind you An Alpina B3s is the same price as an M3......ah but its not an M3 ..You cant win

I think a new B3s makes more sense. I don't really get £32k for a 2012 D5 though, you could be in a 535d for £17k, a couple of grand more than I thought to be fair, but a big jump.
