Just to add. People seem very quick to accept what a garage/warranty/insurance company tell them. Regulators are slow and sometimes painful, but often the threat of them pushes these big companies into action.

Great recent example was a friend with a 996 991 that was stolen. Claim initially rejected as he hadn’t declared a change of steering wheel (ugly 4 spoke for a nice 3 spoke). As soon as he went back an asked the insurance company to show that it changed their risk (e.g. materially changed the nature of their insurance offer) they backed down and paid out in full.

I would suggest you contact BMW Extended Warranty direct and fully explain your situation.
I have had two warranty claims refused this year by my local BMW garage Warranty Manager, basically through the Manager not understanding the T&Cs of the BMW Warranty policy. I got the impression they deal with a number of Warranty Cos and do not have a thorough understanding of each individual policy.
Both times I contacted BMW Warranty direct, explained what the problem was and they were more than helpful. The asked me to return to my local garage and ask them to submit both claims which were met in full.
Do not take for granted that your local BMW Warranty Manager knows what he is doing !!!!

Top post survivalist..

It was the imminent involvement of the FCA that got Bmw to pick the phone up and tell me they'd reviewed my case and decided to issue my full refund.

Hi all,

Thank you for the replies so far, much appreciated.

I've attached correspondence between the dealer and insured warranty and the policy handbook, so you can see how Warranty are positioning themselves against the claim. I would appreciate any comments and feedback.

It looks like it’s been decided (incorrectly) at a junior level and their manager is just backing up the decision without understanding it. BMW dealer seems to have your back, which is good.

You had a PCH for two years duration, amended it to four years duration. All entirely normal.

Next step is to escalate a complaint as per their procedure. I’m sure they’ll review it properly and allow the claim. Good luck!

I've yet to pen an email to the CEO, however I have just received the following:

Following your recent contact with our Operations team, details of your concerns have been passed to our department, for our investigation and response.

We are always disappointed to learn that our service may not have met our customers' expectations. We will, however, do our best to address your concerns and provide an explanation of our findings.

One of the Customer Service team will be in contact with you again as soon as possible, but in the meantime please do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything you wish to discuss.

Customer Service

BMW Group Assistance

Very generic and ambiguous.

In my 7 month ordeal with Bmw I got quite a few of these type responses.

Did anyone ever get in touch?

Nope.

It's just deflection.

But do let us know if they do actually get in touch to help.
