best 328i Sport for under £4000

Having recently bought a 328i touring must admit to being just a little concerned now about the engine issue. It's on a 97 plate with 91k no knocks or bangs no excessive oil use goes like the clappers full service history ( nothing mentioned about an engine change though) just hoping i havn't wasted my hard earned money and it doesn't go bang in the near future. You might not think some things written on here are scaremongering but you've got me well and truely worried, thanks!

If you have a Nikasil engine, it's a bit late to start worrying about it now! If it idles and doesn't use any oil just forget about it. There are plenty of cars out there with Nikasil and big mileages.

I concur that with current value of E36 328 sports it makes a lot more sense to buy an alusil lined block to start with. Why take the risk? As for the recent owners developing problems I do wonder if the problems were the reason the car was sold...

Without being pedantic, it's a steel liner block that you're after as a fix for the 6-cylinders
Alusil was used on the V8s as a fix
