Arse, that one wasnt for sale when i went to look at mine! It has 15k few miles, xenons and heated seats for the same money! Oh well thats life, doubt its in as good condition anyway.
It's pretty hard to compare so I wouldn't worry smile

Ie, that one you have may have newish tyres, that one might have old ones... just as long as you are happy thats the main thing...

How far did you travel for yours? I'm just hoping a few more pop up locally. There is a nice one in Wakefield right now, but it's £12,000 asking, probably because of the sub 20,000 miles, and I'm not sure that is a good thing to be honest... I rekon an honest 40-50,000 mile model will be a better car to own all round for my 12k a year.
Also, it has 17" wheels, not a huge issue as I can upgrade to ellipsoids and non-rft's, but ontop of the already high price frown

I will bide my time and get one. Anything up to £10,000, right spec, and local, is fair game for 'instabuy' hehe
I will always be open to stuff a tad higher, but the sums/product have to make sense... that £12k one in Wakefield doesn't frown

This was in Burnley which is about 60 miles from York. As an amazing stroke of luck i happened to be traveling by train to Preston for a New year party which has Burnley as one of the stops. So even it i hadnt bought the car it cost me £0 to view it!

That is another point actually, for some reason most other Z4's which met my criteria were 200 miles away. So when i got to the haggling stage on this car and we were only talking a couple of hundred quid making the difference - the distance to the other cars was a factor. If i had said no and spent a load of cash going accross the country to see a car which might not meet my needs anyway.

From what i have seen its probably not worth paying extra money for a low mileage car, yes you will get more back on resale but thats about it. If other high mileage Z4's are anything like mine then it will make zero difference to the ownership experience.

Shame really my father works for BMW and can get me cars at cost + £100 which for me would have given me better value. Problem is the cheapest in his group was £13,000 (retail) and the cheapest AUC 3.0i manual in the country is £12k so it doesnt make mine look bad value - especially since it is prepped pretty much to BMW standard anyway.

Probably best to get one with the right spec to start with rather than having the hassle of changind bits around (although if retrofitting Xenons is possible then id look into that). I just made it hard for myself by being so piccy with the spec so as soon as i laid eyes on this car i had to have it. The salesman telling me he had 9 people to call back about the car afterwards if i didnt want it - not sure that was entirely accurate even so!

Yep, travelling to view can be a huge hassle. Sometimes just buying the right one when you see it, despite it being maybe £300-500 more, might just make sense... in the big picture such values disappear into the ether of the total car ownership costs.
I know it's not the same as values rise, but some cars even up near £12,000 can still look tatty and you just have to walk away. Not so great when you may have spent a day travelling to see it! I say as soon as you find a good one in budget, get it. Buying cars is such hard work!

What is the prepping exactly? Their wash and wax before selling it to you!?

Yeah, getting the spec right is important I think... I'm not too fussed about much personally, but key ones are imho xenons and sports seats, ideally heated, but fine if not biggrin
The xenons are night and day vs standard I feel, and the sports seats are lovely. Wheels can make a difference but they are relatively easy to swap and cheap to do, so I'm not really fussed about those. Balding tyres on 17's and a lower price is fine by me biggrin
