Nope, we haven’t got electric seats in ours.
Apparently, according to some quick googling, if you have electric seats OR electric folding mirrors it works. If you have neither it can't be coded in.
Great news, as my recently acquired E90 330i has the power-folding mirrors. I just need to try setting the mirror adjustment to the driver's side! rolleyes

Here is mine, probably the only new G20 330d in the country.

Whilst that is very shiny and blue, it's not an E91 I'm afraid. wink

The plot thickens.... Then I do not know. Are there two different wiring harness types and you for whatever reason have the one that allows it?

That’s pretty unlikely isn’t it? Nice car either way

In fairness none of the major press have done a drive on UK roads yet. I saw the chap that sold it to him was going to have it as his demo, and can't get another one for 4 months. So while it might not be the FIRST, there will only be a handful over here. smile

Sorry chaps, another quick question:

Which brand brake pads/discs from Euro Car Parts would you recommend? I'm getting several options and there 3 types for the front!

Also, front brake hoses - only option is Pagid. Presuming these are a safe bet/close to genuine/dealer standards?

Edit/ Just to add to the above - Happy to hear any other advice too, doesn't have to be ECP. That's just for convenience but for the better option, willing to try another source. Reading a little further online and some do suggest just to stick with dealer parts.

This is going to annoy me even more now if it's the case that it should be dipping!

I had two sets of Brembos from ECP and they both warped after a few thousand miles - ECP exchanged/refunded with no issue. A friend had similar experience on his E90 320d, which are a different size. Whether this was a short term issue at Brembo manufacturing or whatever I don't know. I contacted Cotswolds and bought OEM discs and pads and haven't had the same issue. It's purely anecdotal and your experience may be different but OEM have been best for me.

I went with Pagid discs and pads from ECP when I did my rears a couple of years ago. Results inconclusive. I don't know if something was out of spec on my car, but initially the inside of the rotor 'hat' on one side was catching on the sheet metal of the parking drum brake housing. IIRC I had to file it down a fraction of a mm to get rid of a horrible metallic whirring noise. There was much assembling, disassembling and swearing to diagnose and fix this.

I'm now getting vibration under heavy braking, but I *think* (hope) that this is down to the fronts which now also need doing sooner rather than later, rather than the Pagids having warped. We'll see...

Check the options list - looks like 313 ("Exterior mirrors, folding") or 430 ("Exterior mirrors - folding, automatically dimming") are the ones that include the dipping rear view mirror. (That's from the LCI price list, but I think the option codes are very similar for pre-LCI too.)

I too had problems with what iirc were pagid rear discs. Same issue where the handbrake was causing a slight squealing. They also rusted on the hat really badly as they weren't painted.

This time I fitted ATE, who make the genuine BMW ones, along with Ferodo Premier pads. Find the part number you need for your model and search it on ebay for the best price. I found a pair for our 335d for £81 on ebay, where as they are £101 EACH from ECP.

If anyone is interested these were the best prices I could find a few weeks back. 335 fitment only, £250 all in. About what just a single axle set of discs would cost from the stealers.

My apologies...I was getting confused with my E46 which definitely does. I’ve just been out reversing down the drive in the E91 with the mirror button on both sides and it doesn’t dip. Shape of mirror less good than squarer E46 too...

Weirdly their ebay shop is cheaper than their website. Normally save a few quid going direct. Autodoc also worth a look.

Thanks for the replies and advice. Think I will avoid Pagid and most likely stick with dealer or try as per advice from SouthHamsGaz

Do I just use the part numbers that BMW use?

The way I do it is to ebay search for what you are after, EG. 330d e90 front brake discs.

Which brings up this in the results. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-OEM-ATE-HEAVY-D...

On that page is the part number 24.0130-0192.1. Search that and see if you find anything cheaper than with original search as used above.

Have a quick check on the sizes of the discs just to confirm they are correct for your particular application as ebay can be a bit crap on what they are listed to fit.

Hi all, I’ve put a deposit on an F31, if all goes to plan I will be advertising my 05/55 E91 330i SE (manual) in the next couple of weeks. It’s been very well maintained by myself and the previous owners.

I don’t want to break any posting rules, but I’ll give the thread the heads up when the advert goes live. It’s a really sorted car with sports seats, Birds B3 suspension kit, CIC Nav upgrade & Alpine running Style 193’s.

Still not sure I’m doing the right thing, as I’ve become rather attached to it over the past 4 years!

Cheers.

God damn it, pretty much my perfect spec E91. Sadly I'm about 18 months away from a car change.

This'll sell very quickly indeed!
