Thanks, yes, I started it in 2009 and slowly did it over time. That 1M seems damn nice, and with those lovely blistered arches makes mine seem a bit weedy from the front or back, hey ho, still love it!
Sounds like some really serious £££ gone into that.Awesome project but out of interest what made you spend that rather than getting an M3 for example?

I know this is sacrilegious but I rented an E92 M3 and shortly afterwards a 335, and for me, I was more impressed with the 335 as a road tool..When I heard they were putting the same 3 litre engine in a smaller shell I started getting excited, and the thought of having it as a little stealth project really appealed. It makes no financial sense whatsoever and I'm sure if I had bought an M3 I would see a better return but I like the fun of making gradual modifications, though it will make selling it that much harder for me!Awesome project but out of interest what made you spend that rather than getting an M3 for example?

Any excuse to show photos of my little beasty!..I really do love this little car. It's a 135, bought from new and had loads of work done at Birds. Dinan Stage 3 so around 400bhp (jeepers it's fun), straight through cats, Quaife LSD, BMW Performance suspension, brakes, exhaust, short shift kit, Dinan intercooler, 313 wheels, various carbon jewellery, oh stop it..but the loveliest part of late for me is buying the BMW Performance seats and having the guys at Birds have someone retrim them in the Terracota leather that the original seats were in..lummy, can't wait to see 'em.
That's better. The interior looks fantastic, seats look great.

I think I probably own the 1st or 2nd 335 ever built. Mind you, it was actually put together by Alpina TWR back in 1982 so probably not as refined as an E92. I think it sounds way better though.

Nice that you've got something a little different. I drove a 1M and thought it was an awesome bit of kit but out of my league cost wise.

Thanks. That sounds very interesting, a 1982 335? I'm confused! Have you got a photo?I think I probably own the 1st or 2nd 335 ever built. Mind you, it was actually put together by Alpina TWR back in 1982 so probably not as refined as an E92. I think it sounds way better though.

Well what a phenomenal car, project and a passion. I think your project pretty much sums up what Pistonheads is about, (and this forum in particular of course!) What a jewel of a car, and as you say in one of your responses you have no intention to sell, why would you? I have always thought that in general, thought not always of course, that people who rebuild, modify or work on their cars to improve them could be seen as more of a petrolhead than someone who rolls in to a showroom and buys a new car outright (and I put myself more in the latter camp as I didn't get my hands dirty!) Enjoy your motor, and please post more pics when you can..fourscore said:

Thanks. You'd probably like my daily driver too. It's a 323 with modern M52/2.8 power and 220bhp. Built not bought!
I've learnt a lot since finding this site and met some great like-minded people.
You must have so much fun in that! Lovely.I've learnt a lot since finding this site and met some great like-minded people.
Corbeau RS1.
I got these for £400 the pair on fleabay. I got chatting, via text, with the seller and told them about my e21 and how I was also researching the old BMW County Championship from the early 80's. It turns out her Dad is Jeff Allam who drove the London car and went on to the BTCC etc. I love coincidences like that.
