Highlights include soft close doors and HUD.

Unfortunately one needs to go to pay for it...
Ohh! What flavour?

Tightened a slipping A/C belt on the E34 M5 Touring, seems to be holding and has stopped the squeak. Gave it a wash at 6:30am before it got too hot outside.

Checked the E26 M1 for leaks after noticing some drips last week after moving it a short distance, nothing now. Strange will keep an eye on it. Hazard warning light decided to pop up on it's own and would not go off. Took said switch apart, the ratchet mechanism is well past it's best but managed to temporarily resurrect it, but it needs replacing.

Wondering what might go wrong, took the E39 M5 out for a short blast to keep things moving. Everything worked as it should, hydraulic tappets quietened down after a few minutes, such a joy to drive, what a car.
Bloody old fools loving bloody old cars! WTF is wrong with us biggrin

Decided on taking the M635CSi out for the day...

...starting with a couple of hours at the Black Swan meet in Ockham and then pick up the wife and off to the sports centre to play squash - it got a fair amount of attention in both venues as when did you last see an E24 out in the wild.

AC still ice cold, everything still working perfectly and engine making a glorious noise on the way through 5000rpm cloud9
That’s stunning; a nice way to spend a few hours.
Thank you - it is everything a modern car isn’t and as such it looks, sounds and feels fantastic biggrin

A chap was asking me this morning how long I’d owned it and I guessed at around 14 or so years - curiosity got the better of me and it turns out that next week I’ve had it for 22 years!

2008 E70 3.0sd - i.e. the same 280HP engine as in my 335d.

EDIT - SE model, albeit with sports seats and suspension ("adaptive drive" to be specific).

Very handsome cars the E70, they still look very modern, the early cars can tramline with the lager wheel options, two of my friends had E70’s brand new back in 2007 and had problems.

Bought this 2 weeks ago. Let the spending begin rolleyes So far I’ve changed the oil and air filter even thought not due yet (always done on purchasing a car), replaced the rear pads and discs, had the egr cooler recall done, changed a few codings with Carly and updated the 2013 maps to 2022. Next weekend it’ll be having 2 new front tyres to replace the 5 year old Michelins which have gone noisy and get the buckle straightened in one of the rear rims which I only discovered when having the wheels balanced last weekend mad it’s not cracked……yet!

That's lovely thumbup

Are the tyres RFTs? That will probably not be helping the alloys...

The 20s that I had on my previous F01 soon came off and went down to 19s with non-RFTs and they made a world of difference

Yes currently on runflats. The replacement fronts next weekend aren’t going to be. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it the rears are nearly brand new so I can’t bring myself to ditch them.

According to vin decoder it came with 20” wheels but somewhere along the line somebody has replaced them with 19’s probably due to cracks which suits me just fine.

Yeah; common occurrence...

The 20s that came on the F01 I had weren't that old; front 2 tyres less than 3 months old, but different brands on the same axle rolleyes

Best thing I did was get shot (they all sold on eBay too for c£100 each) - that paid for the replacement non RFTs!

I went with Falken FK510s all round, superb tyre

I may well get them replaced with non runflats and sell them but for now I’ll see how it feels when the fronts are done and the rear wheel made round again. I’ve looked everywhere for a replacement as I’m a bit unnerved about having the flat spot on the inside of the barrel made round but I can’t find one anywhere, not even quarry motors! The guy that’s going to repair it assures me it’ll be fine so it’s here’s hoping for the best.

E39 windscreen replaced by Autoglass after a small chip became a large crack in the heat - the fitter was very good and had done a few E39's before so knew all the pitfalls.

Ditching the RFT’s will make the car ride better. My 335i feels much better without them and my other half’s 125i was transformed.

The wheel should be OK once it’s made round again. I’d be tempted to change the rears to nine RFT’s too, expensive but it’ll ride better and not trash any more wheels.

Seconded. My 325i E91 was transformed. Maybe partly because the extra weight at the back of the Touring didn’t like RFTs. Went for Bridgestone Potenza Sport all round, very happy.
