What have you done to your BMW today?

The other track rod end arrived yesterday, so I’m going to tackle that Thursday night before taking my car for an alignment on Friday. When holding the wheel at quarter to three, there is a tiny bit of play, so it could do with being done. The passenger side is rock solid.
I also grabbed more parts from Sytner; the rear shock mountings were in really bad shape so I’ll swap those too.
I’m still trying to decide what to do about the drivers side rear drop link; I really struggled with the lower bolt which is a bit crusty. It comes out so far and just stops. It’s only a 13mm so I don’t want to get too brutal with it. Access would be easier with the shock removed…..but do I ignore my OCD and leave the rear drop link as is or risk it and get in a right old pickle if it goes tits up? I might try and heat that part of the knuckle to see if that helps. The passenger side one wasn’t too bad to change.

Get it swapped out Sam; you know it'll mess with your head if you don't I also grabbed more parts from Sytner; the rear shock mountings were in really bad shape so I’ll swap those too.

I think it'll be worse if the bd bolt snaps when half way out! In the corner rocking & dribbling because it's odd
But deffo have Wurth Rost Off Ice in your arsenal; it's bloody brilliant stuff!
Watched it tick over another milestone - 164,000 miles, which by my reckoning is 2/3rds of the distance to the moon. Still feels impressively tight for BMW's "budget" offering, although it did mark the occasion by unleashing the "Invoice Bong" at me, asking for more screenwash.
Just need to wait for the wife to get back from work so she can help me open the bonnet - due to the lack of tension in the bonnet release, she has to do the "put weight on BMW badge" trick.

Got back from a few days away in Wales and finished the suspension on my car.
First up was the drivers side track rod end which needed sone help from an angle grinder after the T40 counter hold snapped.
I then whipped out the rear shocks to replace the upper and lower mountings which had seen better days.
Whilst the shock was out I had another crack at the drivers side drop link and with a bit more space, I managed to get the bolt out without destroying it. I’ll grab some new ones from Sytner tomorrow and swap them over at some point.
Tomorrow morning, I’m taking it for an alignment.

Had my car aligned today.
The drop is pretty subtle, but it’s sits better. The rears haven’t really dropped, I’m assuming because the rear springs were a bit shagged after 82.5k so were lower than stock.
I’m not sure on the CSL reps, I’m sure I saw a photo of it with the original 19’s, can’t quite understand why you would change themThe drop is pretty subtle, but it’s sits better. Looks spot on that Sam and the wheels are deffo the right choice. 18s are about as big as you want on motors like this IMO The drop is pretty subtle, but it’s sits better.
