Changing all the under bonnet fuel pipes as there is a persistent niff of fuel, might as well replace the lot in one go when I have the inlet manifold removed. 20 year old rubber.

I am also looking at replacing all the pullies as these are noisy.

Bogracer and Mikey (and anyone else with an original E34) - what stereo head units do you have? My 535 came with a slightly inappropriate Sony CD/MP3 unit which I'd always intended to replace, and I've just nabbed a mid/late 90s BMW Business RDS Radio Cassette (Philips-made) from an E36 to replace it. My previous E34 (a very late Touring registered in 1997) had the same head unit so I suspect it's as close to originality as I'm going to get, bearing in mind that in 1991 they probably didn't even come with a stereo as standard and I don't think BMW-branded head units existed laugh

Be interesting to see what others have in their cars as a comparison. I'll photograph mine before and after when it arrives and I fit it.

My fathers new 535i in 89' had a Blaupunkt Toronto, 72' BMW 2002 Turbo a Blaupunkt push button radio. My 91' 525i tourer a Sony and my current 92' 535i a Sony. My Z3M Coupe and E39 M5 had BMW sound systems (with Harmon Kardon upgrades) my feeling is that a Blaupunkt is the most correct pre-BMW own brand sound systems, and they sit well with the BMW Teutonic interiors?

yup, i fitted a Blaupunkt unit into my '82 E21; it was an early 90's unit but still looked just about right and didn't look too much like an anachronism.

Blaupunkt decided to go cheap at some point (late 90s?) and it's quite hard to find a decent Blaupunkt of the correct era now. I'm happy enough with a BMW branded DIN-sized unit from the 90s; this is how my previous E34 looked:

Looks very smart, it sit much better than these 'pin ball machine' stereos.. Does anyone know of a nice 525 TDS, I have always liked them?

I am in Spain Andelusia mountains and I have hired a Suzuki Jimny, which I dare to say is much better on road and off road than my Land Rover and has averaged 42 MPG. It's only alternative is perhaps a mountain goat! The motoring press slate it, it even fun on zig zag mountain roads. They are wrong. Cheap, fun and tough.

Meanwhile the 535i is having all its engine bay rubber fuel pipes replaced.

I'd been wondering what 17" Style 5s would look like on an E34. Too big, it seems:

Fuel pump

Check for easy hot and cold starting, not cheap to replace (though a cheap fix compared to latter diesels!)

Other than that usual e34 issues

Next job.

I am after some light grey interior bits?

The rear parcel shelf is full of ripples and the rear door cards have delaminated.

Are there any lurking out there or is there an OEM source in Germany?

I would appreciate your help guys.

I'd suggest you get the part numbers and search on Google.de - might get lucky, also D-Class might be able to assist, iirc they are in Surrey (Woking). Other than that I can't help.

Haven't read the whole thread... have you used realoem.com for the part numbers you need?
