So what's a vanilla C63 got under the hood bhp wise?
Very similar engine, just in a slightly different state of tune.451bhp for standard C63
480bhp with performance package
500bhp for the C63 507 (507ps)
I now need a new coolant expansion tank. Got a low coolant warning when a couple of miles from home. Once I got home, I waited for it to cool down and poured some in. All of it went on the drive.
On further examination and I find this:

Bloody typical, BMW parts had closed once I saw the issue so going to have to wait until Monday. Would the Hella part from ECP be any good, or am I best off getting one from BMW? Could get the part tomorrow if the ECP part is good.

Hella could well make the tank for BMW.. They make their lights (on the E60 at least)
Is there any other branding on the old part? Can you go to an ECP and have a look at the part and compare the two?
Either way, I'd imagine the ECP Hella part will be a fair bit cheaper than BMW and they're a good make themselves, I'd be tempted to go for it.

Thanks. Forgot to inspect the part for a brand when I took it off. Have put it back on the car whilst I get a new part so the remaining coolant in the system does not pour out of the pipes all over my driveway.
Unfortunately my local ECP does not have it in stock although the one 12 miles away does. Will try and get it today.

Anyone anything to report?
I fitted my new header tank/ rad cap a couple of weeks ago and have had no hissing/ coolant loss since, as far as I can tell. However, that needs to be given a couple more weeks to be sure.
Torque converter still being a bit hesitant at 35mph but it's bearable.
MPG has now slipped to 19.6 as I am not watching it anymore... Also bearable!
Else, no other issues to report other than I need to book it in for a service at half term!
Will get them to confirm the torque converter issue and quote for that and a paint tidy up.
The bum warmers are coming into the own now winter is coming!

Not really. I've decided to leave 10 minutes earlier in the mornings and have reduced my cruising speed on the motorway from 85ish to 70. It's resulted in an extra 100 miles on a tank - range has gone up from 390 odd to 500 odd on my 70 litres. That means an extra day's worth of range every tank and it's also much more relaxing to commute that way instead of on and off the throttle in L3.

I'm pondering selling.. It's done a year which is a record!
I'm finding the lure of an XFR too strong.
Post your spec sheet up here for one and all...!I'm finding the lure of an XFR too strong.
We don't want one leaving the family!

Spec please! ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
I'm getting sick and tired of running sensible cars and miss my 550i lots.
Wasn't your old car a 2008? I'm not sure you'd appreciate going back in time to a pre-lci.! ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
I'm getting sick and tired of running sensible cars and miss my 550i lots.
It's got the usual 550i spec, advanced climate, leccy seats and steering column, extended interior lights
Plus, xenons, bum warmers, pro nav (updated), I think that's it..
I'm going to MOT it end of this month, renew the seals on the vacuum pump and then think about putting an advert together. I've renewed a lot on it and spent a fair amount on preventative maintenance, as well as some nice coding options that I want to list properly.

Yep, it might be a bit of a timewharp, but then going from 550i-X5 40d-118d has been a bit a shock to the system too! We're just in the midst of moving house and will then be buying a dog, so we'll need something a bit bigger again and a nice Touring (particularly a V8) could fit the bill! ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Mine as bought for the dog... But we also moved house so the dog didn't have to go in the car ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

I don't think I would be able to get rid of mine, especially as it is having to go back to BMW to get the valve stem oil seals done. It turns out that the split pipes they replaced last time did not fix the issue. By the end of my ownership this car could end up like Trigger's broom!

Mine's in at BMW too. Smoke after idle or hot runs. They think its just the crank case breathers - given there is no smoke on start up I'm inclined to agree. Would the broken breathers increase oil consumption? Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
