Looking to order the black exhaust trims at the end of the month - pay day! Anyone else considering these? Going to have a nosey at the car on the weekend to see how to remove the current ones.

Plan to keep the silver side vent trim as it breaks up the side of the car and goes well with the wheels.
It’s quite straight forward according to this guy on Facebook....

First blip - went to put insurance live and ran into the hurdle that they couldn't find the reg so needed to call. Meant QMH was a no-go, next-best was General Accident; called them and....they couldn't find the car from the model description either (turns out they're also underwritten by Aviva which explains it). No-go there, so on to the next one - Churchill and a big ol' jump in policy price unfortunately. Up from £600 to £938. Ouch. At least the excess is lower at £500...

Anyway, other than an unexpected stretching of my financial ring-piece this morning I'm looking forward to the car getting here in the next hour or so and at least I now have insurance in place! It should make insurance easier next year once the reg is on the database.

I have to say that not being able to speak to anyone about policy etc is not a price-saving worth making and I don't think I'd use QMH again in future.

Before buying I stuck one in Direct Line and it was reasonable for me and better than my i8 which was worth similar.

Perhaps I should've gotten all that sorted out earlier in the week and ready to go. I had already had a sensible quote lined up (based on the correct car info on Confused!) with QMH but their back-end screwed things up for me. I should've just been able to click through and accept the quote but couldn't.

My own fault really - a £300 lesson...

What a pain frown I went through BMW Insurance and they were the only ones that recognised the reg. Clearly there's some additional integration there with their sales systems. They also had by far the lowest excess for me.

Parking mode dashcam update: It works fine but the car will occasionally throw up a warning when it's unlocked because there's an unexpected power draw. I guess the battery management system knows how much power should be being drawn at any particular moment so it makes sense. The Viofo kit has an adjustable voltage cutoff currently set at 12V but I can bump it up a couple of notches if needed.

It's here! However I was on a webex and had to text the guy that I couldn't drop off it - he's gone to pick up another car from elsewhere then is coming back to do the handover. Have had a good look over the outside and it's tip-top as far as I can see. Texted a pic to my MD who's told me I have to go in to the office this afternoon specifically to give him a run out in it! hehe

Hey folks

Super helpful thread. I received my car today. Wondering what's the best way to enable apple car play and digital car key on iphone?

I enabled the services (car key and car play) using connected drive, but Apple car play setup option won't show up in the car menu. Same question for the digital car key (for iphone).

Appreciate any help anyone can offer here.

The digital key for iPhone is only for cars built after the start of this month I believe.

As for CarPlay - hopefully this will help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NPIEfiUKyc

If the option isn't available then it may not be "booked" as a service in which case I'd get in touch with the supplying dealer.

For those waiting for the July update with the Android Auto feature - apparently the OTA has caused some idrives to lock and as a result it seems to be a dealer only update through the wire until they sort the issues out.

There is a chap on bimmerpost based in the UK who has the update applied at the dealer with an image of Android Auto on iDrive. For those of us stil awaiting delivery are we within our rights to ask for the dealerships to update the idrive before delivery?

Thanks for confirming, the video tutorial worked.

Bummer about the iphone integration, would have been cool.

..oddly ( or perhaps to be expected ) I'm finding allot of BMW drivers seem to take pleasure in driving right up me chuff, or if in front, drive off at speed in a ploom of oily smoke which says it all really.

Anyway, on a positive note I had a play with the park assist and reverse assist and both appear to work well on the whole, still nervous in letting the car do this for me but I expect I will get use to it. Shame you cant seem to adjust the camera for full screen but it is a decent picture.

Just done a 700 mile road trip in my coupe, averaged 46mpg, was a joy to drive. Tried out all the assisted driving tech, works great once you trust it.

I couldnt be more impressed with my petrol GC8 - ive just finished its first full tank had one long trip at 38MPG and the rest urban driving so lower returns for sure- completed 450 miles on the one fill up which I reckon could easily stretch to 500 without driving like a Nun.

To put this into a very high level perspective ive just returned a 2 litre diesel quattro audi avant which on a good run id get around 600 miles from a full tank ( Audi 73litre / GC8 68litre tank ) so theyre not really worlds apart but oh the fun with that petrol B58 engine is erormous - glad ive finally got to experience it !

A couple of days into mine now and had a first decent drive yesterday - sport mode, revving it out was lovely and it felt on it, comfort felt much more relaxed - previous cars haven't felt that different between the modes.

Active cruise and auto steer thing works well (as good as our Teslas, and much easier to use), the automatic speed limit changing is cool but my car predates the lane change so looking into getting that turned on through coding (its just two settings). But very much enjoyed the drive which is the key thing, and boy, do the seats go low!
