Mate is changing from an X5 45e to one. Only thing I don't like is the removal of the iDrive wheel to full touch screen. Outside of that it looks a cracker.
It still has the Idrive wheel from what I’ve seen in the I4
Seems you might be right - where on earth did I get that from then

Very interesting. I don't think I'd want to take the risk with it once it goes out of warranty - if I take the 5-month extension on the lease there'd only be 7 months of warranty remaining. I suppose one could extend that at a price though.

The price I had at the time to buy my Golf R post-lease was a piss-take, several grand dearer than other comparable cars. It went back through BCA in the end and appeared on a used dealer's site with a crap set of 19s fitted which was weird as the original 18s went back with barely a blemish on them (I incurred no end-of-lease charges for condition - I suspect the wheels on the 8 will get picked up on as they seem to scratch if you even look at them..).
I regret not buying my S5 lease car. IT went back in June 2020 at 3 and a bit years old with 17k miles and they offered it me for £23.5k. Could of sold it for £30k now!

I have no intention to keep mine but was curious about the pricing. Asked for a 12 month extension with no additional mileage and received a quote for £990 a month!!!!

I also need to check T&C's about the fine for returning without a service done. Often its cheaper than the actual service.

Chatted with Gateway2Lease earlier and Leasys have 86 of the 840's going back apparently! I didn't think they let that many though. That's a lot of stock for BMW on what will be very similar specced cars

Anyone considering the Golf GTI Clubsport as a replacement? Just waiting for an order confirmation before ditching my Focus order for one.

If anyone wants a laugh, Leasys just quoted me £1,670 a month to extend 6 months or £990 a month for 12 months (no increase in mileage)... rofl I think they're smoking crack over there.

Suffice to say I won't be taking them up on that, I'll do the 5 month informal most likely.

Yeah they deffo want the car back thats for sure but 8 series do not sell that easily anyway so 80+ all hitting within a few months is surely going to be a tough sell unless they offer a good APR for the used buy.

Anyone had a buy price? Wondered if it was reasonable or also high.

I've not looked at this, maybe a cheaper and frankly more convenient option than booking it in.... Mine is due in Feb, goes back in March
Interesting response about implications of not servicing before return................

Good afternoon,

Thank you for your email.

In regards to servicing, we advise that you contact the manufacturer directly. They will be able to advise you on a service due date, as we don't hold that information unfortunately.

If due to circumstance you fail to service the car prior to collection, we will not charge you any fee. However, it is preferred that this is carried out, allowing you to fulfill your contract requirements.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Yasmin

I'm now thinking I’ll hand back at end of lease with no extension- new puppy growing fast = SUV or back to another estate
X5 would be my ideal choice but not currently within budget - possibly go f pace - vw touareg another possibility - can’t find any decent stelvio deals to consider
Wife currently has Touareg Black Edition and I think it's a very underrated motor. We have the more powerful diesel and its a great all rounder. We qctually gave another on order. There is Touareg thread on here.

Very 'interesting'! So l, they won't charge you a fee but could effectively sue for breach of contract?! What are other people's thoughts on this - are you duly booking the car in for a service (mine seems to be due a month before handback, presumably 24 months from build rather than registration??), Taking the risk and returning without the service, or maybe handing back early to avoid?
I'm tempted to return without doing it. On the display screen it says service due in 7000 miles 02/2022. My comment would be it still says X miles before service regardless of date and its only done 9000 miles so it must surely be needed in 7000 miles. Worst case you pay then for the service.
Not decided yet though!!! Depends how brave I feel nearer the time!

Got this email below after asking about taking the car elsewhere for the first service. BMW in Sheffield want around £360.
Local German specialist want around £120 via bookmy garage website for oil and filter change. Mygarage lists two years service as major service so not sure if the oil and filter change will be enough at the German specialist.
Will have to confirm with them. It's £290 for that.

Not going to risk missing it with their representative saying basically they are not sure if I will be charged. To me that means you will be charged and whatever price we decide.

Good afternoon Mark,

You can take the vehicle to any service provider as long as you can verify with the garage beforehand that they will be using genuine parts, parts that are like for like and parts that match the specification.

We cannot guarantee that you will not be charged for a missed service.

Kind regards,

Definitely a different response to mine a page back where I was told in writing thetr would be no charge. Good to know you don't have to go to a BMW dealer though

Can anyone confirm what us involved in the first service? Is it just the oil change?

Decided to not risk returning the car without a service and just get it done. £315 at Graham Martin Automotive in St Helens - he used to be the main tech at Haliwell Jones apparently.

I did extend 5 months till Nov but will be letting the car go at the 24 month period. Last few months enjoying this mega deal, never I suspect to be repeated.

So….. car goes into Liverpool BMW to have the B pillar and door trim warranty work done while I wait - 3 hours later I’m advised the mechanic has managed to crack the windscreen badly ( no idea how !! ) they’ve order an OEM replacement on a 10 day lead in. Provided a 3 series courtesy car which will be replaced with a 5 if I want ( not bothered)
Albeit an inconvenient experience every cloud has a silver lining as the windscreen had previously suffered damage on the passenger side edge and was planning to have it replaced prior to hand back to avoid penalty…when they update me next I’m going to suggest the car has a full valet ( not the usual wash with a gritty sponge ) as recompense for the inconvenience;-)worth a try
Liverpool as well - I normally flash the lights at a fellow 8 series or give 'the hand' so if you have had that and said 'wan*er!' thats me.
I am normally pottering round near the docks or Halewood.

Did a buy price again and they still want £52k for the car. It was just out of interest but the figure has stayed the same as it was in Jan. Not great value in my eyes and reminds me yet again that I should of bought my S5 lease 2 years ago when VWFS gave me a ridiculously low buy price!

My old car, plus another of the leasys cars also in Sonic Speed Blue have surfaced at Stebbings independent dealer at Kings Lynn. Interesting that they didn't go to a mail dealer. £53k+!
I just don't see them selling at that price point at all and there are an awful lot of them on the Trader at a similar spec

Mine was for sale through Auto100 for £50,980, then disappeared and re-appeared at Bowker BMW in Blackburn for £54,980, but they had changed the grilles to black for some reason. I had asked them at the time if it had been in an accident, but they said they changed them as they thought buyers would prefer the black accents. They had not changed any of the other parts.

'My' car was then, I assume, sold, but it seems it could have been written off or something. I have checked the reg, and it has not been sold to a customer, as the V5 has not been reissued - and the DVLA website would state vehicle vehicle not found. So I assume something has happened to it.

It's not taxed and does not have valid insurance. So I really do wonder what has happened to it. Perhaps a crash at the dealership, or whilst on a test drive. I don't think it's on a private plate, and I'm not fussed enough to spend £8.99 on a vcheck.
That's interesting - how strange. Mine is due back end of June and I can't be bothered taking the black grille off so will just leave it. It's a genuine BMW part so no issue.
lots of these on the Trader all similar specs. Mine has privacy glass, cognac leather and crafted clarity wonder if any of that will help it shift or command a bit of a high price. I am going to ask for a buy price again two weeks before return just to see if it drops or stays the same. No intention to buy just curious.

I just asked for a 12 month extension and unfortunately the monthly price has more than doubled. Shame.
Leasys extension process is very strange. 5 months with no additional mileage or return the car. VWFS are far more flexible - extended our Toaureg Black Edition for an extra 12 months with another 5k miles and the price has dropped from £375 (already a good price) to £329 a month.

Inspection was a bit odd. The inspector marked down a couple of issues but said that I shouldn't accept them and so disputed both? He didn't even give me the opportunity to accept them... One of the defects was a bumber very slightly out of alignment which he said was probably a manufacturing issue.
I got the invoice through - then negotiated a couple of minor items which they wrote off. So only had to pay for two scuffed alloys and one new tyre.
How much was it per wheel?

Mine was picked up today. Although 2 alloys were grazed surprisingly no damage charges. Been an interesting journey and will miss her, but worth it. Thanks all for the useful guidance over the past 2.5 years!
Still clinging on to mine. What a deal it was/has been. It's the interior I am going to miss and the comfort when driving.
