I will stand corrected, but they did say it was not only the the earlier models but also later than 2011. my hearing may not be as it was years ago. :-)
I believe this is because there are a few models of the old generation still in production until very recently, for example X6 and X1.Nobody has been able to categorically state the F Series cars are affected by this.

At least try and read some of this thread before repeating information that you appear to know little or nothing about. If you're not sure, just ask...As I said (and I was trying to be helpful) the article was slightly misleading and it has obviously had that effect on you.
The hardware has been available for a long time that will allow the theft of the F series.
There is also a well known 'dead' area that is not covered by the alarm sensors that effectively allows the window to be smashed without triggering the alarm. You can then access the OBD and reprogram a blank key without triggering the alarm.
That's the crude method of entry...

Given I park on the street in London I am quite happy that my X5 is seven years old. AndyHCZ said:
Trust me, all new BMWs are affected - there are plenty of Youtube videos out there showing how to do it.
Nobody seems to have come forward and said they've had one pinched in this way though whereas many have with the old style system. The videos prove nothing as they don't demonstrate it can be done completely independently on a locked car.thegreatdogwood said:

Still, whatchdog did make it easy letting the "thief" access an open car.
Still think the alarm sound is next to useless.
Think I also read somewhere that there is a blind spot on the alarm too whereby you can get to the drivers foot-well without setting the alarm off anywayStill think the alarm sound is next to useless.

They are either using jammers (so you think you've locked your car when in fact you haven't) or there are now tools available that allow you copy/replicate a key fob for locking/unlocking a car:http://www.keyprogtools.com/index.php/touch-keyles...
This is what people are selling that they claim to work on all Fxx series BMWs

That's key preparation from a CAS4 dump, the CAS needs to be removed from the car, opened up and read with a CAS BDM programmer, it isn't through the diagnostic port.http://www.keyprogtools.com/index.php/touch-keyles...

You are not going to be getting that to work on a locked car in somebodies driveway at 3am though, which is the crucial difference.http://www.keyprogtools.com/index.php/touch-keyles...

I can't see any new BMWs being stolen in that link. Plenty of Jags. Audi's and Range Rovers though. http://youtu.be/5DaXKrf3_48
