Sounds a reasonable price, depending on miles. Mine had only 8k I think and they wanted just over £50k at bang on 2 years old. I did a comparison with wbac and the cost to buy was more than the wbac price so I declined. If I could have bought at 'trade price', it would have appealed. Worth checking?
WBAC had been quite volatile, currently says 41k, which doesn’t surprise me massively - BCA won’t particularly want another 8 series, probably because they are getting a load from Leasys anyway. A mate in the trade reckons 45k is a reasonable trade price, and it’s lower than any on BMW AUC.

My time with my 8 is coming to an end now; in light of the lack of decent lease deals etc that were out there I'm buying a G30 530i outright to trundle around in for a while:
Should be picking it up Saturday. It's nothing special but it'll have a year's warranty with BMW, no need to service it until June 2024, it has a new MOT and it's in immaculate condition for its age. As a 2017 plate it also won't qualify for the £355 VED uplift from April so it'll be just £165/yr from then.
I very, very nearly went for this M4 Comp but head ruled heart on this occasion for a couple of reasons... I think there are likely to be reductions in prices on cars like the M4 over the course of the next year or so as the economy continues to st itself (the dealer offered me £2k off the asking price of that one before I even asked) and I'm also looking forward to not having a 'monthly' going out - I would need to have borrowed a bit to make the M4 viable. When I thought about my typical driving it's all boring commute and the odd run to see family so something comfy and wafty will do for a while; I'll see if I get bored with it eventually and maybe see what prices for M4s do over the next 6-12 months...
The 840 has been a great way to get around for the last couple of years - thanks again Simon for alerting us to what was probably a never-to-be-repeated deal!
Not a problem - that looks a really nice 5 series to be fair mate. Last 7 days on the 8 for me now. Even whipped out the display key to charge it to use this week!Should be picking it up Saturday. "To reset your personal data and settings in your BMW with Operating System 7, select: "CAR menu" > Settings > General settings > "Reset vehicle data". In your BMW with Operating System 8, select: "Menu" > "System settings" > "Reset vehicle data".
Please note: In vehicles with a production date from 11/2020, the vehicle will be removed from your BMW ID in the My BMW App and My BMW portal after resetting to factory settings."
I'm 99% sure ours are iDrive 7.

The 840 was collected yesterday morning. £60 for a wheel that was a dinged wheel however I have contested it as no harm in trying. Good collection from Manheim overall and more thorough than BCA who collected our old Touareg lease yesterday as well.
Pretty sad to see it go and I will miss the cabin the most. What a great place to sit whilst going to and from work and really glad I went for the cognac leather. My first BMW and I would definitely have another.
This mornings drive in was a total contrast in the GTI Clubsport that was also dropped off yesterday. My first impression of the Golf is how noisy the cabin is!
Massive thanks to all the contributions to this thread.

I'm in the final stages with mine - I have the phone number to call to arrange collection but I'm tempted to eke the time out a little further. Replaced the B-pillar trim with the hole worn in it over the weekend, was a doddle to do. I'm definitely going to get pulled up on alloys (at least two) but it'll be interesting how draconian they are on the rest as I've made a significant effort to keep what I can in good condition. The interior of the 530 also evokes the 8 as well so I don't feel too hard done by...
Thats lovely mateSearch for 8 series - loads ready to go through the auction including mine! It's a shame Joe public can't see what they go through for.

I'm looking at these to replace my 6 GC. They are noticeably dropping in price. One I had an eye on at a Dealer has been reduced by £5k over the last month.
However, like for like age and mileage, a petrol 8 is still c£15k more than I paid a dealer for the diesel 6 in 2020. A diesel 8 is considerably more.
I think they will continue to drop significantly over the coming year.
Fabulous looking car which you guys appear to have enjoyed. Those who had a Dravit one, how did the paint hold up? I had a carbon black 5 series which picked up swirls in the paint by just looking at it!
I had Carbon Black on my 8 series barely any swirls however it received a new car prep that included 2 stage polish and a ceramic coating on day one and I am OCD when it comes to washing. Just as a sidenote in the 12k miles I did in my 840 - most on B roads to work and back - it managed 29.3 mpg. Quite impressive really considering I am not light footed.
Not a problem gents. It's felt brilliant hasn't it wafting around in such a car for a ridiculous price. It was a bargain in 2020 but with the lease prices now it almost seems comical. Especially as for a moment the deal seemed like it might be pulled from under our feet for those who went through G2L.
Some parts of the car I'm only appreciating now its gone - the refinement and sound insulation were outstanding. In this Golf GTI Clubsport it's so noisy from general road noise and tyre roar and hearing stone chips in the arches etc.
Mad to see so many 840 GC's on the Auto Trader with the cheapest one being under £41k.

Mine is still on the Manheim website even though it was collected 3 weeks ago. Thought it would of zipped through the auction in no time.
There is currently 21 840 GC waiting on the Manheim website.

Given how many are already on the Trader, these are going to make a half decent used buy given the values have been obliterated by the lease deals.

Just checked what mine would be to buy outright and was quoted 39k. They’re definitely coming down
wow. I was offered £51k then £46k just before it went back. I bet if you took the 5 months informal extension (assuming with Leasys) it would drop a bit more given 20 are about to go through auction. QueQwamo said:

I should've bought mine.
I would have at the values now but the best price they offered me was £45k and I wouldn't bite at that point. If Leasys had said £40k, I would have. Unlike VWFS, they were not open to negotiation on the buy price. Sounds like those who still have the 840 could well get a buy price of £40k, or perhaps there is a chance to now negotiate given the market for these cars is collapsing.
I'm a bit miffed I cannot view the Manheim auction as I would be interested in seeing it!

This looks tempting. Surely it must be 'leasers spec', I.e. to hell with the resale value! Personally I think it's blimmin awesome
