Sounds like big wheels kinda spoil the show on the sports models on rougher roads.

Did anyone buy CAR magazine in 2001, fogotten the issue, I think it was a Clio V6 (mk1), Scooby STi (frog eye), Vette C5 Z06 and new E46 M3 group test? (on front cover is France)

In that issue the M3 was fitted with those nice 17's (Style 74) http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntricks/wheels/BMWWheel...

I think they suit the E46 very well, and it's quite surprising that most M3's actually came with the 19's (from what I've seen), considering the car looked quite nice on the 74's (looked a bit like old E36 M3 wheels)

17"s on an E46 M3 ? Standard fitment 18" I thought (with an option to upgrade to 19"s ?)

Not sure, maybe it was a certain Euro country spec for winter tyres or something (think issue was Feb 2001), so maybe thats why?

Either way it looked pretty good on them. The E46 manages to hide it's bulk quite well. Even the E36 M3 on it's 17's looks perfectly proportioned!
