I drew a similar conclusion in terms of performance figures
Thing is, not only is the 520d physically larger than the C220, it feels like the class above to drive as well
The company car tax equation brings the 520d down to pretty much the same cost as the C220 for me which becomes a no brainer
Planning to order mine tomorrow - Jet Black, black leather, black gloss trim, sun protection glass, HK, xenons, comfort seats

I have had both the 5 sport touring and the 3 sport touring, 535d and 335i, and have to say that I much prefer the 3 series.
I have now had the 320d sport touring for 3 months and I am smitten with it.
Plus you can now order a 320d m-sport and add the 'special edition' package to it for a grand, that includes, carbon metallic, 18" wtcc BBS wheels, leather, bluetooth and satnav (business, but you can upgrade to prof nav for £380).
Mine is now showing 54mpg on a run without trying to nanny it, and it is tuned to around 210bhp.

thanks but it's the 5 for me every time - my wife hated the choppy ride on the 335i Sport and the extra space of the 5 is much needed
(I'll be getting something else - potentially a 130i - for fun)
OK mate.(I'll be getting something else - potentially a 130i - for fun)
I found it the other way round, choopy/crashy ride on the 5 and solid on the 3.
