Interesting... I’ve checked my Leasys contract and it 37.02 ppp inc vat which equals 30.85ppm net of vat .... I recall quirying this with carsave and I have it in writing the 26ppm was correct but I’m now thinking thats neither here nor there as the signed agreement is the legal agreement but I’ll query it with Leasys nonetheless .... worse case I’m now going to be paying £370 per 1000 miles extra over agreement instead of £310.....I’m still happy enough to do that assuming I’m no more than a few k above contract

Yes, it's high compared to other leases but it's still a lower rate per mile than we're paying for the car at the agreed miles.

Mine is also £0.4096 inc. VAT per mile, but the app also displays a different mileage. I received a letter dated 8th March, which I assume was a 'half-way through the contract' letter, stating that the excess mileage charge is 32.00 pence per mile. The letter doesn't state if it's Ex.VAT or not. I've just checked the app and it's showing 32p.

I don't have the app.

Looking at prices of leased cars currently, we are in for a hard dose of reality at the end of the lease. frown

So, having always so far managed to avoid roof racks etc., the “practicality” of the 8 series has been exhausted...

Previous 335d Touring and S4 Avant made transporting a bike easy. With the 8 series, I can transport one bike by taking the saddle and the front wheel off. Bit of a pain in the arse but not the end of the world.

No 2 son is now getting into cycling and I can’t transport two bikes and two boys to the track. I think a roofrack would be the best bet - I don’t want to shell out on a towbar for a lease car and worry one of those bootlid carrier things might damage the paintwork. I don’t really want the BMW main dealer one as it’ll be useless when the car goes back, so would prefer to go Thule or similar.

No roofrack websites I’ve tried seem to have heard of a G16/8 series, however! Just wondering if anyone might have been down this road already...?

The 8GC boot lid is made from plastic so can’t take a bike carrier, even if you wanted to. I wanted to carry bikes too, but I just use a Saris Bones carrier on my other car.

A reasonable roof rack option for the 8 would be good.

Incidentally my excess miles are 26p plus VAT even though G2L said it was 41p. I have had the discussion with Leasys and confirmed.

Just had a notification come up to say my cars service is due in 2000 miles. Does anyone know if we have to do the service with BMW or can we do it elsewhere?

Check the wording of your finance contact, it will make clear whether main dealer servicing is required.

This?

9 The Hirer's obligations when maintenance is not provided by the Lessor
9.1 If the maintenance option has not been selected in the vehicle schedule the following provisions of this clause 9 will apply.
9.2 The Hirer will be responsible for and will pay the full cost of servicing and maintaining the Vehicle at all times in good condition.
9.3 Without prejudice to the generality of clause 9.2 the Hirer will ensure
(a) that the Vehicle is regularly serviced and maintained by an approved agent in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations;
(b) that the service book and records for the Vehicle as supplied by the manufacturer are promptly stamped by the approved agent as soon as all the necessary or appropriate works of service or maintenance have been carried out.

Can non-BMW dealers 'stamp' the digital service history? How does that work if you're taking it somewhere other than BMW now actual books don't exist?
