Having been educated that oyster is a freebee option, it looks stunning but the light carpets could be a sticking point..

Anyone know whether BMW include (black) mats or is that a dealer fit extra?!
You'll only have the car two years, I'd just go for it. And you could always buy some cheap mats and 'tailor' them. Which I'm thinking of doing for the rear as got two kids aged 6 and 8.

Yeah some over mats would probably be the way forward, black interior is pretty dull (sat in a 4 door 840i today) and not sure if I'm keen on the cognac. Oyster looks amazing - had the same in ex's mini and the dye transfer was very obvious - however the new office job means the frequency of wearing jeans is far reduced! Was set on sunset orange but sonic speed blue looks good seems to suit the shape better. Reckon that with oyster would be fab

Can they do that? Sign me up at £xxx a month, with me happy to take delivery then, and then due to delays at the factory charge me £30 a month more when our signed agreement was for £xxx including tax? Surely If the deal is signed and the delivery slips because of something they have done, that’s their issue, not mine?
These were my thoughts exactly. I guess the lease companies have this covered in their T+C's.

Why can the car not be registered in March and delivered before the end of June? bandit
Rises in VED are always covered off in the T&C's. The lease company cant predict what the government will chose to do during the term of the lease so any changes are past on to the lease. I've had additional charges during several of my leases.

Carbon

I'm set on carbon and cognac 100% now.
Classic combination that's what I went for, while everyone is still deliberating I finalised my order on the day and confirmed with the dealer to ensure I beat the road tax hike. Like people have already mentioned this is a lease car...your lucky to be even getting the option of choosing a colour as most of the best deals are take it of leave it stock cars as was my 1st lease a Mercedes SL. If I'm being 💯 honest I'm not sold on the looks I really am not, it looks a little awkward in certain angles, the consumption will prob be ste too but it will be a nice place to be for a couple of years for silly cheap and that's from someone who was about to buy a FFRR just before this deal came about.

It was very BMW, and don't take this the wrong way, but quite business like - a very plush place but not 'fancy'. Don't get me wrong it did not in the slightest dissuade me but it was more like my old m240i (with bigger more impressive screens and kit) and less like an i8 which I would have so dearly loved! They also had a demo 4 door with a red coloured leather (must be one of the options) which certainly seemed to lift it but on a lease it will be a base model for me - that is if I get in on the deal!

Oh really that's interesting I had an i8 for a year and thought the interior (halo pack) was pretty poor tbh as the car was...looked the part externally tho

I managed to get a drive in one this afternoon in the dark before dealer closed. Interior is comfy and clinical, ambient lighting certainly lifted the black leather in there.

As above not fancy per se but it's a very nice place to be. Felt much nicer than the i8 imo, which I think is very dated in comparison.

Only had a quick 10 min drive but initial thoughts are that the damping is good, smoother ride than my curremt f11, plenty fast enough when needs be and effortless when driving normally. It's very refined, only when you boot it do you hear the engine note and that's no doubt partly piped in through the speakers.

If anyone is thinking of getting gloss black interior it's nice right up until you touch anything, then you're going to want to wipe it over because of the fingerprints!

Just of of interest, the PCP for 48 months was 649 deposit and 649pm on a base spec car.

I agree on the styling. I think the coupe looks fantastic where as this has presence but isnt much of a looker. The awkwardness to me comes from the way the window line comes to such a blunt end compared to the roof line. The window should of gone to a thinner more tapered finish as opposed to such a blunt stop. Privacy glass and a dark colour help that quite a bit though I think. I do like the duck tail rear and front on it's nice.

How was the ride? I'm worried about the runflats.

I have only sat in the 8 series and compared to my wifes new A6 it was quite sombre and typical standard BMW whereas the A6 interior is so eye catching and different. But the 8 series interior feels much better from a quality perspective.

My S5 has a HUD so I am glad this comes with the 8 series.

This just came to my attention - should be a nice replacement for my current S5 Sportback - assuming there is actually availability. I’ve enquired with select car leasing

Ride was fine from the short time I had it out on the road, more composed than I thought it would be and than I am used to.

Not sure if it was on run flats, i suspect not as I think it had the m sport technical package that deletes the run-flats for performance tyres.

I'm happy to go with the run-flats, the ride can't be that much worse. I've swapped run-flats to non run-flats on my f11 and the ride is still rubbish compared to this 840i.

First time I've driven a car with HUD in the dark, found it quite off putting but like anything else I'm sure I'll get used to it. I like the idea of having it. Not sure what it displays other than speed limit (if it gets it right) and your current speed.

Just checked the VED rate change for the 840i GC in factory spec to see the actual numbers. I have seen estimates but no precise figures - apologies if I missed them.

It will move from 168 g/km to 196 g/km under WLTP rules. This results in a change in first year rate from £530 to £1280. That £750 rise equates to £31.25 per month for a 24 month contract for cars registered from April 2020 onwards.

You get used to a HUD quite quickly and then it becomes weird to not have one. Typically displays speed and speed limit as you say but also sat nav directions. Given the BMW digital display isnt a patch on what Audi do I think the HUD on this will be particulrly useful.
