Interesting…. I can’t see cars like these being popular at an auction house - atm they’re late 40s on autotrader - after another year or so as electric cars become the norm who knows - early 30s or less maybe - a good buy for some one
Cheapest is 51k - anything starting with a 4 sells in hours. Prices have climbed recently. You see so few out and about even with the lease deals ending I don’t see the prices plummeting. A lot will pay a premium for an 8 over a used 5 series.
I am still staggered at the price premium BMW charge for an 8 over a 5. £30k more for an 850 vs a 550. Personally I think the 550i is the absolute sweet spot on the entire BMW range at the moment. Base spec one is £59,100 over on Broadspeed.

Still enjoying the 840 a lot although my squeaky/squealy brakes are not going away!
I concur; outside of this absurdly-good deal (thanks again Simon!) it'd be a hard car to recommend over a well-spec'd 5 - or even 4-series GC - a I reckon you'd get 90% of the experience for 60-70% of the money. I also think Audi have the edge on interiors as well.

I'll be extending mine unless another absurdly good deal turns up early next year in time for it to go back. Quite fancy a chunky off-roader for some reason.
I wasnt really sure about SUV's but my wife has had a new Touareg Black Edition since Sept 2020 and have to say we are really enjoying it.

They are under the boot floor but not super easy to access. Using the terminals under the bonnet is probably the easiest. If it's kept outside you can still half-latch the bonnet too.
Yep found that out by prodding and lifting, thanks though Mackie1

I wasnt really sure about SUV's but my wife has had a new Touareg Black Edition since Sept 2020 and have to say we are really enjoying it.

My last car was a VW and got to say it was a great bit of kit. I actually looked at the T-ROC R at Goodwood in 2019 but it was a little on the small side. They've released the Tiguan R and Touareg R since then... Wouldn't have another Golf though purely on the basis of the removal of buttons for HVAC and steering wheel functions (and it seems I'm not alone in hating them either).

That wrong Touareg deal with Central looked good yesterday, shame it was a mistake. This looks really nice though. The BE is very well specced.

Didn't see that deal but Central are bad for doing that. Clickbait.

We got ours on a decent deal, 387 a month on a 12+23 with 10k per annum and a 3 month payment holiday. So we made the initial £4,644 payment in Sept and paid the first monthly in early Jan. Not a mega bargain but very reasonable and will be looking for formally extend for 12 months price depending.

Put it this way, people dont believe me when I say we have an 840 GC and a Black Ed Touareg for a whisker over £750 a month on monthlies.

I imagine they wouldn’t … unless they appreciate the size of the upfront payment

Shows just how good the 840i deal is...Touareg total on 12+23 @10k = £13,545. 840i total on 9+23 @ 10k = £11,424.

Yep Exactly that - it may be a while before we see deals anywhere near that price point again for a high end vehicle :-( …if at all

Had a run out to north Wales on Sunday to some of my favourite driving roads B4391 etc and with some roads being slightly off the tourist trail were not too busy at all ….. anyway something I’ve discovered is with car in sports plus the exhaust will occasionally’pop’ at speed on the down shifts …. Helped make the twisties and the sheer drop to the valley floor below a very enjoyable drive !!
Have to say for such a big car it does handle well when conditions demand - bit scary on some of the narrower roads and tighter turns but still fun :-)
Yes indeed, it does..

Not quite - there was a 3 month payment holiday in the deal so it was in reality a 12+20 meaning £12,384 however it doesnt change your point on how good the 8 series deal was.
Still think the Toerag deal was pretty good for an SUV with that spec although not my best. That would be a toss up between the Golf R or Polo GTI deals I had previously.
Looking at the lease thread these days its pretty poor out there!

Nice to hear someone else enjoying how the car drives - yes a great lease deal but irrelevant with the car sat in the drive as an expensive trinket with limited use

Hello chaps - I was lucky enough to get an 840d as courtesy car and it got me salivating about lease deals on them. I know the deals are long gone but what were folk getting on 6 x 24/36 8k?

I'll be gutted when it goes back...

With waiting times currently (due to covid and microchip delays) I cannot see the reasoning for any discounts. Until you can up capacity then no need at all.

Unless that starts to crack I'd be inclined to leave it for now. Assuming you have windscreen cover on your insurance I'd wait until you either get another chip that requires replacement or get it swapped before the car goes back...

As mine was delivered before the VED increase, it was 9+23 8k - £325.71 (only charged £325.70) per month. Admin fee of £198.
