Nothing, generally speaking. I just want a change. 10yrs in one car is a long time - more than twice as long as the last car I owned. I need a V8 in my life!

If you're specifically asking what's actually wrong with it, mainly leaks (rack, sump and valve covers), and the bodywork of a 16yr old car. I'm not one to worry about oil leaks tbh - as long as they're not gushing it's not really an issue. But some people get really hung up about these things.

It's generally very healthy mechanically though, and still looks good from 10yds! If I had the space I'd probably never sell it tbh.
Could you PM me more info if you are willing to part with it as I can see from your profile its an M Sport Touring and buying a car off a PH’er is generally safer than buying from FB!

Honestly mate, when I'm ready for it to go this will be the first place I let anyone know, so anyone looking at the time would be welcome. There's no point at the mo though as I'm just not in the position to change yet.

I'd settled on what I wanted next (Infiniti FX/QX with the 5.0 V8) but as I say prices have shot up and now I'm not sure I want the risk of them dropping again after I swap. The alternative would be to stay in the BMW camp with either an E63 650i or an F06/13 650i, as prices seem to have remained more sensible. Infiniti has significantly less scope for engine trouble than either the N62 or N63 though!

No worries.

I am going to tidy up my E Class and get it sold to fund running costs of the BMW. Has been SORN for ages, could never be bothered to get it going (not a fan of the W210). Been in the extended family as long as I have (sub 60k). low mileage and shock horror, no rust. No idea how much it will sell for.

Still on the hunt, only searching FB Marketplace, BMW forums and eBay now. Autotrader cars are hideously overpriced in comparison.

Really struggling to find E92’s or E91’s that are both a) well priced b) not shagged ! A lot of sellers seems to have loony ideas about what their cars are worth? Since when has a 160,000 mile car or a car with rough idle and no history been worth 6k?

I spotted a clean mineral grey 325i (i know not a 330) which is at top end at 5.6 k (78k, no spec)

Only has these flaws:

Owned by a normal family, the MOT history is flawless.

Is that wing normal?

The LMB 330i E92 I posted yesterday is still at the top of my list

I guess if people will pay it.

At which point, they car will either sell at the price, not sell for ages, or be sold at a lower price.

What is it worth to you. Offer that, openly and honestly, might work out but if it doesn't nothing has been lost.

It’s a minefield out there and lots are dogs, especially those that have fallen into the wrong hands. Tatty ones like the grey one above aren’t worth considering. There are lots out there and I’d far rather the LMB you posted previously.

The old CCC nav is a bit st, but swap the screen for an Andream unit and you’ll have CarPlay / Android auto which modernise the car loads.

That’s what I am planning to do.

Seems like the LMB blue seems like the straightest car. It’s miles and miles away from me though so I am afraid to travel all that distance in case it turns out to be not what it seems. There is another LMB one in Barnet, much closer to me a 2009 (09) with 115k that is up for 5k. However it is a 325 but I could always map it out as its an N53 right?
I am
Trying to ask for more pictures but eBay is being a ste!

One thing I've always stood by and will always say; is that for the right car, it's worth travelling for and then enjoy the road trip back home wink

But obviously masses of due diligence are needed (as well as tons of pictures an detailed ones that).

Finding cars locally is brilliant; but it's only ever happened twice for me over the last 20 years! The rest I've had to travel for and a lot, I admit, I've got there and the seller hasn't been as honest as they could have been and I've walked away (pissed off, but with the money in my back pocket still)!

That's the risk of buying 2nd hand cars

I'd also take into consideration that 'mapping' anything on any car needs to be declared to the insurers and that will up your premiums; so maybe try to stick with finding a 330i and bide your time, one will crop up smile

You’re right to be honest… 325i’s won’t be worth the hassle. I’ll try and go for the previously posted LMB E92.

Might widen your choice a little bit if you looked at 125i Coupés as well? Tend to be enthusiast owned these days, they're pretty much the same car underneath, and they're probably even sharper to drive.

A quick remap gets you 130i power as well - although I suspect most of the 125i's out there have been done by now.

This one is a great colour combo and decent spec:

That does look good

Bushey is very close to me as well probably only like 15 minutes

I’ll go and have a look at that one as I am not at work today and report back

Plus you’ll get an N52 rather than an N53 engine, so no concern over injectors, HPFP or NOX sensors, it’s just leaks really.

Excuse my ignorance, were all 330i Coupes/Convertibles produced fitted with the N53? Are N52’s not direct injection?

The N52 was replaced by the N53 in the 3 Series around 2007, whilst the 1 Series only ever got the N52. N52's are classic "port" injection so use a little bit more fuel, but also run cleaner (less NOx) and have less issues with HPFP's, Injectors etc.

I've taken mine from 56k to 163k, and it's only needed a couple of sets of plugs and a coil in that time.

How far away is the other LMB car?

Shame there’s no pics of the interior of the one close. It’s got no nav which means adding stuff like CarPlay is a bit more involved (double din is the best solution). I know screens are universally hated on PH, but I’m so used to CarPlay now. Streaming and controlling music etc is much easier.

Ignoring the distance, which one appeals more?

The 330i appeals more . It’s in a random village near Lancaster (I’m just outside London) so it will be a right old faff to get there by public transport. I will only go there if I actually have decided to buy it and have cash in hand and I will be hugely disappointed if isn’t what it seemed!
