How much have you been quoted? Hopefully yours will be easier than mine were.

I must have lucked out because I just ordered FAG jobbies which luckily fitted fine.
st, now you mention it I didn't get a price, probably distracted by finding someone who could fit it in!

Very rock n’ roll update on the 330i; new pollen filter was fitted. This is the annoying era where BMW gave it its own service interval on the CBS.

I thought that I’d already done it, but i hadn’t. Previous part was Mahle and dated 2021. It was grubby but not that bad. The Bosch filter I fitted was also made in Slovakia; I’m guessing the snow factory, just with a differ sticker and box.

On the CBS for pollen, and spark plugs, later E90s don’t have them. I had mine coded out, as they didn’t show on the retrofitted CIC system properly, and I do the microfilter every oil change and plugs at 60,000 mile intervals anyway. It was silly to have them on CBS, there’s even an algorithm for how long the microfilter lasts which takes into account fan speed, and recirc usage.

Yeah, I don’t think there is a separate service light for it on my 335i and there wasn’t on either the 125i or 130i. I guess it was just another way to get your car bs I to the dealers, a video and an upsell for brakes / tyres….

The pollen filter is so cheap, I think I do it roughly every year / when I remember.

Hopefully it won’t be too bad….

I supplied the parts (£70), labour was £600 in the end including realignment. They had the car for a day and a half because the drive shafts were seized solid in the hub. They were fkers to remove apparently….glad I didn’t attempt it on the drive!

Christ, I hope it's not a £600 job. Sarah's already put me in the dog house suggesting to her it's a likely few hundred £ job!

As the old adage goes. If it's got tits or tyres it will bankrupt you...

Guess it depends on how much of a turd of a job it is; the drive shafts can be an absolute pig as mine were. That included the alignment too. They had hoped not to have to take the car apart too much to save having to realign in, but the car had other ideas. Good luck.

Currently no gears. Hoping for easy fix.

This is just the trailer (pun not intended). If I get it going I'll do a proper thread where I inevitably end up spending loads.

I feel dirty knowing I have a car with an "M" grill badge and 3x (!) wind deflectors.

Not today but at the weekend on the 330i I changed

Waterpump
All hoses
Thermostat
Expansion tank
Idler pulleys
Drive Belts

All went beautifully then drove to work the next day and on the way home, the rad went pop.

So tuesday I changed the Radiator and then the car rewards me with a binding caliper.

Managed to get a pair of M3 LCA's for the 330i after lots of waiting (they're now out of stock again).

I've also ordered some oil because my 335i is due an oil change in less than a thousand miles and I've ordered rear discs and pads. There is a slight lip on the discs and the bells is really rusty so I figured that I'd pop on a set of discs. If I don't end up selling it, I'll benefit, if not it's one less thing to try and be chipped down on.

Over the weekend, after a good wash, I applied the C5 wheel ceramic stuff. Time will tell what I think of it.

In other, annoying news. Last week some keyed the OS rear door and rear panel. I think I know who it was. It was a school day, between 2-4. The next day going out to the car, I saw a group of school kids walking down our terrace, one in particular had a cocky swagger going off. He saw me, and his whole demeanour changed. Looking incredibly sheepish, looking down at the floor. I just thought to myself 'you know something about this you little bd'. Unfortunately our ring camera had a fault, it stopped saving files. A replacement one from Ring arrived days later.

Now the new one is installed, woe betide anyone trying it again. We're in a small village. If I caught a face of someone walking closely road side I'd wait for them to pass again, and discretely follow them to their home. The parents would then be politely but firmly told that I expect payment for the damage, or the file and their address will be given to the Police, and the whole village will find out via the local FB that their son is a little vandal.

£225 required by the bodyshop on the 21st, for work over two days furious

That's really st - no idea why people do stuff like that?

Did you manage to get away with reasonably lightly on the wheel bearing front?

I ordered my oil from them yesterday and it's been delivered today! Can't say fairer than that especially given how much cheaper it was than ECP, Halfords etc.
