I locked my landrover 90 once in a quarry ,proper job piston through edge of block ,the water was up round my lap mind whilst we attempted recovery,I did check the depth of lake but al of a sudden it just dropped into a hole ,needless to say replacement engine and snorkel was added

Unlikely to be hydrolocked, you need to fill the cylinder with enough water so that it will not compress.
It doesn't take much. 500cc cylinder - what's the compression ratio?

One of the little Peugeots had an issue with rain making the air filter wet and some getting into the engine.

200 TDi Discovery, two bent pushrods, fixed inside a couple of hours on site with a couple of spares ferreted out of somebody's toolbox. tongue out

To be fair, there was probably a lot less water in mine, the piston was only about 10mm from the top of the block, it had got in through cracked silicon on the airbox modified for the snorkel. The 200/300 TDi are generally bomb proof, great engine, braking one takes some doing, not powerful like BMW though. smile

Guys I have an update, I drove past that spot and the car is still there, it's floating above the ground though. Turns out that car stopped there yesterday because it was chosen by the almighty himself not because it broke down. Since the almighty himself chose it I'm a believer now too. All hail the beema, whichever beema it is, whether it's powered by the rice sounding S55 or the soot and other bits loving N54 or even a totaled N47, they are all sacred. Respect.

PS This post isn't meant to be taken seriously, I repeat, this post is not serious - google "tongue in cheek".

It's been 25 hours and I just thought you'd like to know that I have nothing more to add.

Sam, why do you hate BMW so much? Or is this really about something else?

Thanks for the update, did you at least manage to empty your bowels in those 25 hours?

Is this thread some sort of cry for help?

Bizarre.

Cry for help requires self-awareness and there were only 2-3 people on here who could be described as accepting facts and not living in the lalabmwagland.

So to answer your question, it's more of a circle jerk than cry for help.

Big Al.
