Says “from a deceased estate” on the listing, so it’ll be a probate sale.

I’m not a fan of the pre LCI models. I think the later ones look better.

Yes and I understand what you mean. I guess that I'm really familiar with the pre LCI though having had 3 of them(2xE90/1×E92).

The pre lci does have some bonuses. The interior lights have lenses covering the bulbs and I think a refrigerated centre console box. The accountants stole these from the LCI.

I retrofitted the pre LCI interior lights to my LCI!

They also have far nicer mirrors - not those godawful dustbin lids fitted to the LCI.

Only things I'd want from LCI are the front end and the rear hubs and shafts

I like that….decent spec for a petrol touring too and low mileage. I’d have been all over that in April (as much as I like my coupe, there are a few times I wish I’d bought a touring). Plus fast estates are just cooler.

I want it for the spec alone...and it is just a bonus that you get the N55 and a manual gearbox thrown-in with it too! biggrin

Lovely.

N54 engine. Is there a slight miss ? Might be the way the camera is panning around.

From what I can tell, they’re quite a grumpy engine. They never seem to sound quite as smooth as the later engines like the N55 or the N/A engines.

I think it’s the hpfp that makes these sound rough. I await one of the more knowledgeable members to shoot me down.

It's the piezo injectors making the tap/racket. Sounds like a n53.

No doubt the hpfp plays a part too. It's the same hpfp on majority of earlier n55 and they sounded quieter

I can only assume you are taking the piss, because it sounds fking awful laugh - my N53 330i sounds pretty much the same when it's running right. The clattery diesel idle is the sound of it running properly, something that's easily detectable from the extra 10% mpg.

It's the first car I've had that only sounds good when it's broken.

So what do we think of the value of this in current market? Agreed spec and colour combo are great, pre-LCI but the tuning crew prefer the N54 as more easily modified than the later N55, mileage low - but unclear history and now 15 years old so likely to need a fair bit spending on it in times to come even if a good’un.

Think the guide is a bit low - £7-8k?
