If so i was there on Saturday flying my drone over the ford for a while, luvly area and some great roads.
Yes it was.

An old couple in a Mercedes ML thought I was a bit odd pissing around taking pictures of my car.

I hardly ever use it but as I’d got the latest maps for my sons newly acquired 2010 touring that was still running 2010 maps I thought I might as well do mine as well.
Where did you get the maps update?

Maybe Nomis got his elsewhere, but i got mine on Ebay. £7.99 delivered. Clearly not a legit disc but works perfectly.

not today but i changed the EGR thermostat on my old bus as its an easy enough job, gave everything a bit of a clean up too. Surprised to find very little oil in the pipes too and it looks like my turbo is fairly recent with next to no wear at all, which was surprising. It has been remapped in the past and does like to chuck a bit of fuel in so that's my next job to address. Then its on to address the terrible Android stereo, front brakes, a bit of a suspension refresh (possibly) and a gearbox service (although that's been mapped too so may have had it done already but i'll get that done too for my own piece of mind).

i had somebody not wanting to pass me - i was pulled in to the pull in on the other side of the water and the didnt seem to want to go through it
it was actually quite low on Saturday afternoon no more then just over the ankle deep.

funny watching them perform 12 point turn to go back up the hill and then a fiat 500 just blast past them and through it with just very slight splash.

Coils on cylinders 2-5 replaced on the 630i. Idle was a bit grumpy on cold starts. Fingers crossed it does the job.

We needed an fsc for my sons E91 so decided to just pay for a lifetime code and the download maps which worked perfectly on both our cars.

Blower fan was not working properly at slower speeds so replaced this

Some E34s use a MOSFET device to control the fan speed rather than the resistor pack that's used in E34's without climate control and other newer cars, it's commonly called the Sword due to it's appearance. Just as the resistor packs fail, so does the Sword. It should be repairable by reflowing the soldered joints and replacing the MOSFETs, for now I just replaced it.

One of the causes of failure is due to a build up of crap in the microfilter which reduces air flow and causes the Sword to run too hot, eventually causing the MOSFETs to burn out.

So while replacing the Sword, I also replaced the microfilter which may have been just a little overdue. This is common as it's a bit of a bh to get at.

Plenty of detritus inside the housing, which I cleared out

New and old filters:

The old filter was a RHD version, it's split in two to enable you to fit it without removing the steering column, the LDH part does not need to be split as it's fitted from the passenger side footwell, you 'just' have to remove the glovebox, some trim and some of the vent pipes.

Got my black grills fitted to the 630i. These are the better quality German sourced ones rather than the cheap chinese ebay ones i tried first time round and all the clips broke.

Still waiting for my drivers door mirror from Lithuania, due likely next week. It goes to my mechanic on Monday for a service, rocker cover gasket, oil filter(?) gasket and to get the suspension height set (slightly too low at the back).

Next job is fitting the new front fogs to the Z4 Coupe. The originals have went very cloudy and the chrome effect on the inside has flaked off. The previous owner had blacked them out with 3M wrap but would prefer they were visible, new and working.

Took the opportunity to buy LED bulbs too and will fit those.

Oil filter housing gasket. Very common issue.

Black grill looks good. You not tempted to get black wheels to get the full black on black on black look!?

Swore because my valvetronic error code has made an appearance again, accompanied by two more codes for mixture control. The mixture control codes (0029E0 and 0029E1) usually point to a vacuum leak but I’ve also come across people getting those codes when the valvetronic motor gasket dies.

Local indy is rammed so can’t see me for a while, the first available slot is when we’re in Devon. I’ve ordered a genuine gasket from BMW. They’re not expensive and look easy enough to change so figured that I’ll give it a whirl before we head off on holiday. Hopefully it’ll solve the issue.

I presume you're getting an EML with this?

I noticed the same with my BMW Indy. Booked up weeks in advance!

Yes, seems like a fairly straightforward job (famous last words). Interesting about the ' service mode' on it.

Funnily the previous owner said if he had been keeping it he was going to do the wheels black. We had a black Z4 and did the full black look with it.

Pondering upgrading the alloys - those ones really need a refurb (they're ok in pics but not perfect) and i need two new rear tyres soon. The cost of that might nudge me towards replacing them all.

That would open the door for black or anthracite or that grey / gold shade alloys. Dont know yet what to do.

After having mine done and thanks to the advice on here, I can fully vouch for Ferric Grey. Nice and subtle - albeit on a Silver car in my case - but give it a slightly more modern look. However the best bit is that Ferric Grey is clearly based on brake dust, and as they've got dirtier over the last couple of weeks, they don't look any less impressive or any dirtier for that matter.

Given my allergy of washing cars, it's a bit of a win - win hehe

No lights on the dash.

Is been fine for weeks until yesterday the idle was a bit erratic hence me reading the codes. The motor looked a bit oily when I had a nose before and there was a bit of oil underneath / around the tops of the spark plugs either side.

No doubt there’ll some swearing along the way. hehe

I think I’d go grey rather than black.

A BMW OE colour like Ferric grey looks good.

Yes, there seems to be one annoying (difficult to access) bolt that could cause bother.
