A quick update re my misfire and 29D2 code.

It was the ignition coil as I swapped it with cylinder 2 and the code then shifted to this cylinder.
I bought a Delphi coil from Euro CP but it doesnt allow me to fit the electrical connector because there is a little plastic part in the center instead of the side (as in the Original Bosch coil).

Edited to add:
I was going to return it, but reading online suggests that BMW updated coils for 2016 and they do not allow fitment of connectors from pre-LCI early N52 with magnesium block like my car (April 05 car).

People suggest to just cut the little plastic tab to allow it to fit - what do you guys think about that?

Edited by AmirGSXR on Thursday 13th July 19:03
Another update...i cut a groove into connector using my dremel and the connector now fits. Just took it for a test drive and the car is nice and smooth again.

At some point, the other coils will need replacing, so I will have to source ones with the little plastic tab on the side so that I don't have to get the dremel out again!

Thanks for the offer! I can't remember exactly where you are but a mate has one of those tablet Autel things which are about £300 so I assume that should do it. I will have a go and let you know.
Ah nice. The Autel should do it. They’re good to be honest.

Wife’s N53 325i touring auto has pretty much been averaging 22-28 mpg since 2020 with occasional stutter at motorway speeds, been at 3 different highly rated BMW specialists who can’t find any issues with it as there’s no EML.
Always run on super.
Asked for diagnostic at recent service and we had 2 historic nox faults but none currently- read up on the noxem units and think it might be the way to go but our specialists said they would not recommend one at all or fit it for us. Any ideas if this is the way to go and who and how to go about it - based in Essex.

We know it should do more mpg and not hesitate occasionally at 70…
Had recent plug and I’ve changed all 6 coils for OEM Delphi. Car has only 72,000 miles.

Mrs wants out of the car now as it’s just one sensor after another at the moment plus piss poor economy.
A noxem improved my fuel economy significantly (from 20-25mpg to 30-35) as well as curing a lumpy cold idle. My usual independent also wouldn't fit it as they didn't know what it was and refused to believe that the NOx system would be the cause of cold idle issues. Took it to another BMW specialist (Fulham, London) and printed out/highlighted the coding instructions from Bimmerprofs website to avoid any misunderstanding. It's still working perfectly after 12 months and car returns up to 38mpg on a long motorway run. It's capable of more but my injectors probably need replacing to achieve higher.

If anyone is looking for an LCI E91 330i manual, there's one for sale on the 'BMW Touring Owners Club UK' group on FB.

Le Mans blue with black leather interior, N53 engine, and comes with adaptive xenon headlights, electric folding mirrors, heated seats with electric lumbar support, adaptive cruise control and bluetooth.

No affiliation with the seller, but it looks tidy.

Sounds nice smile LCI manual must be very rare.

Seems like a good place to ask. What's the consensus on where I should advertise a manual E91 335i? Not desperate for a quick sale. I'd rather sell to sensible BMW nerds than face the general public.

At the moment, I'm thinking car and classic as it's free and generally attracts a good crowd though not sure it's the right place for this particular car. But are there UK BMW forums that are worth putting it on and if so any that I can do so without having to be a member for x months?

If I had advertised it on a facebook group like the one above, does it end up in general marketplace too? Not keen on it being put in front of the 'swop 4 a PS4' brigade.

I realise I might ultimately have to put it on ebay, AT or FB but leaving those as last resorts.

You can restrict it to just the relevant groups.

They can be good, but there are also loads of people who will try and tell you that your car is overpriced and is in fact worth three pence because they bought a barried, shagged 335i for three pence.

Cheers. Probably worth a go then. I have stuck it on C&C for now and will explore facebook and forums later this evening. Tricky car to price as I didn't pay too much for it but have thrown so much bloody money at it in the last few months! Can't recover all of that but I'm hoping I've priced it sensibly.

C&C, Gumtree (because it's free) and eBay Classified for c£20 are the ones I use

Facebook is full of illiterate knobjockeys IMO, so I'd stay clear personally

I don't think I'm allowed to confirm or deny whether that is my ad or not. Could be any of myriad of manual 335i Tourings for sale in the North East!

Cheers. I'll let it ride on C&C for a bit and maybe try some forums. I'm away for a bit in the summer so if it's still around after that, I should maybe get more serious about selling it on ebay. Less keen on Gumtree.

I like C&C. Spend far too much time on there. But their ad listing options leave a bit to be desired. The ad preview doesn't show carriage returns, so I spent ages reformatting it to make as much sense as possible with it all as one long paragraph only to find the returns are in there anyway on the listing!

I'm not sure of the rules also but I think posting links to your car for sale is not allowed. Someone else posting is fine. I am not sure if you can confirm or deny. But surely you could comment on the price of a car for sale, if it looks nice in the pics and if the wording of the ad makes it sound like a good buy etc.

It does well pal; my previous Japanese import E39s (530i Sport touring and 540i V8 Sport saloon), and F01 730D all sold via C&C

eBay gets good coverage though via their classified and Gumtree is good as it's free. Sold my 1st E39 via Gumtree; took all of 2 weeks wink

It's free, take advantage as you never know who's looking smile

Agree re C&C too; their website isn't the best. I sorted all mine on MS Word and then pasted it. I've connected to a fair few of the devs at C&C on LinkedIn and fed back a few issues to them, which they sorted...

Well, there I was all excited about my new wheels, two new tyres, new grilles, £6.50 stickers on the rear lights and de-badge, so I take it for its third drive, and the air-con no longer works. Great!

It didn't work when I viewed the car initially, so I booked it in for a re-gas before buying as working air-con was a must as a) its summer and b) is usually expensive to fix. I'm not sure what to do now!

I will try a diagnostic tool to see if that shows anything, otherwise, I assume it's not related to the FRM module I recently had to have "rejuvenated" after fitting a new battery. I think I prefer E46/E39's!

The AC hose that runs down the driver side wing and across the back of the engine is a common failure point. It is exposed to road grit at the top of the wheel arch. If you have a UV torch you could very quickly remove the heat shield that’s down there and see if anything is glowing green. It’s about £130 ish for the hose from BMW if it turns out to be that. Quite an easy job if your fittings come apart okay. Alternatively, maybe get a mobile AC van out to diagnose.

Or a condenser with a hole in it….

I was lucky enough to have a condenser with a big hole in it as well as the high pressure hose having a big hole in it it. Tye condenser I bought was a Nissens jobbie for £75 from AUTODOC. The hose was £144 after discount from my local dealer.

The AC regas should have done a vacuum check when you had it done. One area that gets overlooked are the Schrader valves. Pop the cap to expose the schrader valve and see if you can see bubbles.

Yea it was checked. I guess it may only leak when running or something?

I had my Z4 regassed in June 2021 but by the time we had good weather in 2022 the AC was hopeless.

So a year later it went to be diagnosed and it seems the radiator fan was kaput. It should come on with the AC, but as it didn't the refrigerant was getting too hot so it got over-pressure and was escaping from the pressure release valve.

Since the new fan was fitted the AC has been working great.
