BMW E90 320i Oil Pump GONE!!!
Discussion
I've only ever heard of one oil pump failure on the N42/N46 engine and it had done more miles than yours.
A problem can be a fracture in the plastic pick up pipe but this results in low oil pressure, not the engine seizing. As a point of interest, myself and a mate ran a scrap E30 318i with no oil or coolant see how long it would run for. It idled with no oil for around 10-15 minutes. We then added water to the sump - that actually put the oil pressure light out! It ran for 10 mins, seized but once cooled down, it started again.
For an engine to seize with no oil, it has to be driven. It will rattle like hell, start locking very badly and then seize.
