i have found a guy locally who specialises in classic car restoration.

His quote includes for flatting down, priming, prep, paint, then lacquer and baking. Then polishing once cooled.

Should hopefully be as good as new after .

That's a bodge
I didn't say it was the perfect solution, but I wouldn't put it in the "bodge" category.

It looks a million times better after the work than before, I doubt it would stand up to a close inspection, but the cost/result ratio is quite low, and it is something that you could do yourself if you felt confident enough.

Having watched too many White Details videos and the horrors that he can find on cars that have been "professionally" repainted, I would probably "bodge" my car, if it was just the lacquer peeling. (One of the professionals was a Bentley authorised repairer, who still managed to mess it up)
