Hi again everyone my 2008 E61 LCI 520D auto has developed a drastic loss in power it still drives and will rev OK but the strength has gone ? before the power could be felt and greatly so when the kickdown was used, now I would be concerned about trying to overtake or pull out of the way of something coming towards me as it has gone tame beyond belief it is definitely not in limp mode because it revs to well, there just does not seem to be any strength there, I know everyone is going to say read the codes that is my next problem I have a laptop with all the BMW gubbins on and installed on the laptop remotely by Cable shack for me it is the DCAN set but I am not very knowledgeable with this kind of thing when I connect it up it I do not seem to be able to get anything to show apart from the program so some advice on how to do that properly would also be a great help any suggestions gratefully received many thanks Chris

Where in the country are u? It may be easier for someone to come round and help with the laptop

What bmw software do u have?

2007 and onwards no longer used dcan, so you will need a kcan cable to connect it

Hi everyone I am in Kent ME3 Report Post
I have been researching this and taken to my mechanic who has said the turbo is not giving any boost which was my opinion as well, the lack of any other turbo failure symptoms makes me suspect the actuator which is electronic and vacuum I would appreciate any further thoughts on this and also what sort of money I would have to spend on it should I have to replace the turbo so I can decide if it is worth the juice many thanks Chris

You need to find out all the fault codes that are logged

It’s not vacuum actuated on that engine - just electrical. If it was a seized actuator you would notice some boost very low down in the rev range.

A heavily blocked dpf would also have similar symptoms.

As would an egr stuck open.

Don’t waste money on guessing what’s wrong.
