Old mans Alpina is back at Sytner Notts for a little work following someone reverseing into it, it's been there about 2 weeks and the assessor has just been to see it and given the go ahead.
Since the day it's been there he's been given a Z4 3.0 as a loan car, this appears to come from another company 'Swift' but in the small print it looks like this is a Sytner company. In the paperwork that came with the car it gives the prices you'd be paying if this wasn't a free loaner and it's something silly like £300 a day eek
Now if they are claiming this back off someone it looks like a £4000 bill for the hire car and about £1000 for the repair to the car. rolleyes
If I was in the insurance company of the third party I'd be not to happy with that bill, but do they just let it by, or is the actual bill swallowed by Sytners somewhere, just can't really work out who's being turned over, but in the meantime Z4's aren't too bad, wish it'd stop raining though. smile

our 3rd partys insurance company paid 4.5k or whatever for an xc90 for a month while chesterfield bmw took forever to repair light panel damage.

Whilst convenient, it would appear that these insurance "assistance" are doing their fair part to chuck up our premiums.

it'll be negotiated down between the insurance companies - no way would the 3rd party's insurance swallow £300/day

A friend of mine had a 330 vert as a loan car from one of these companies as he is entitled to an equivilent car whilst his is in the shop.
The price of the loan car more than doubled the repairs but as been mentioned, im sure things are negoiatied.

Yes these companies provide the loan cars and then recharge it to the insurance companies. Dealers and manufacturers can't seem to decide whether they are a good thing or a bad thing, on the one hand these companies buy a hell of a lot of cars for their fleets but on the negative side they are effectively pushing insurance premiums up for everyone and therefore making it harder to sell the cars in the first place.

The man sourceing the loaner actually tried to get an Alpina Z4 which would have been £400 a day and was even apologising at only being able to get a 3.0 SMG Sport. rotate
The hire costs are going to be more than my old mans 96 E36 B3 is worth.

I presume the other party has admitted liabiliy? If not, getting your own insurance company to stump up could be challenging.

Wow..
Someone crashed into my 120D a couple of months ago.. Their fault, not mine.. Still their insurers phaffed about authorising the repair for weeks. Again, I was entitled to a similar spec loan car, which I got almost immediately (Via Accident Exchange, via BMW assist). Apparently this loan car cost a 'mere' £120 a day. Still, after more than 2 months that adds up to over £7500 yikes
Somewhat silly when I would guestimate that the actual damage was unlikely to have cost no more than £3000 to fix. However, this was made worse when the recovery company that scooped it off the road after the accident then did a further £1500 of damage to the car frown

Still, just got the car back last week and BMW did a great job of repairing it. Its perfect smile Im sure the accident management company said the final bill all-in was something like £14'000! This must be about what the car was worth anyway!? (3 years old, but very low mileage). Imagine what the total bill would have come to if me & mother (she was with me at the time) claimed for whiplash etc....

It soon made me realise why car insurance can be so costly these days.

P,
Yeah, our bill was 8k for a car worth around 12, much cheaper to write it off though, although we would have been in tears if that had been the case, as the car was an excellent deal and took a while to get hold of.

BMW did a reasonable job, a few details were left, under the bonnet, which had to go back for rectification, when it came back, some cables were loose, I did them myself.
