E91 rear window pops opens when I select reverse!

What could it be? It started today and is already a pain in the arse. If I get in and drive forward, no probs. Select reverse, rear window pops open.
We have had quite a bit of rain recently and I’m hoping it’s a damp issue rather than a fault.
Could it be the key fob? I have a spare if I can put my hand on it. You can’t open the window with the fob though, only the tailgate.

Any ideas?

Short between the reversing lights and the boot release.

Yeah, probably a short, it is all can bus.

Get it to a specialist. Andy Walker at walkers autotech or Richard Barker at Barker’s Motor works will know these cars well.

I suspect damaged wires where they go through the flexible rubber bellows near the tailgate hinge, leading to cross connection between reversing light and tailgate lock. I’ve not seen this specific issue on an E91 but did have failed comfort access due to the antenna wire breaking in the hinge.

It seems to have rectified itself today but I will keep an eye on it.
