I noticed my new car doesn't have one, just a can of tyre weld. I looked around on ebay and found this

but seems a bit steep for a space saver. Are there any suitable alternatives available? I've read that although the e46 wheels fit the e9x the space saver won't, thanks.

Yes I realise there isn't room for a spare under the carpet but I have an elasticated cargo net that can hold a spare in place in the main compartment. I rarely fill the boot so loss of space isn't an issue.
I plan to ditch the runflats as soon as the current tyres wear out & I don't trust the tyre weld for all punctures.

Billyray, where did you source yours from?

At least BMW have a plan for not offering a spare wheel, i.e. RFTs. Many manufacturers don't even bother despite not fitting RFTs for greater boot space and less weight through a lack of spare.

The RFTs on my previous car (54-plate Z4) gave a shocking ride and tramlining - I replaced them with normal tyres as soon as I could. Nothing to do with being a sheep: better ride, less tramlining, and less than half the price of a set of RFTs. I've just bought an E90 and the previous owner has already fitted non-RFTs - not complaining about that in the least smile

But this is got me worried as I've got a 17" space-saver from an E46 that I kept from my Z4. I assumed it'd fit my E90 but guess I'd better check to be sure.
This is why I want to change as I don't think its just the sport suspension causing the rock hard ride. Also the non RFT are cheaper.
With regards to the E46 space saver I read on another forum (think it was bimmerforums) that although it will fit it will rub on the front when turning the steering. Spacers & longer bolts are required but I didn't want to go down this route if there was a suitable E9x space saver that wasn't £300.

I can't recall getting a puncture in over 10 years but it would be just my luck to get one after changing tyres!

Another thought is that I could buy a front MV1/2 wheel from ebay and keep this as a spare. They have the same tyre sizes as the E9x 18" alloys so I think this would be suitable.

Not sure if the different offset of MV1/MV2s would kill that idea though?

I never actually carried the space-saver in my Z4 while I had it. It lived in the garage as I needed all of the bootspace in the Z4, but with the E90 I reckon I'll keep it in there permanently unless carrying something much bigger.
It would appear these do also require spacers. I think I'll get the proper space saver or another E9x 18" front alloy if one comes up on ebay cheaper
