M140i Adaptive LED with Matrix Function??
Discussion
Evening,
I’m due to pick up an October 2016 registered (Sept 16 build) M140i on Tuesday this week and have a question; it has the following options:
Optional equipment list.
ZM1B F20 M140i 5-door Sports Hatch B58 3.0i
475 Black Sapphire Metallic
LCSW Black Dakota leather
Active from 31/10/2016 to 30/10/2021
258 Run-flat tyres
4GD High-gloss Black interior trim with Oxide
420 Sun protection glass
494 Seat heating. front
5AC High-beam Assistant
552 Adaptive LED Headlights with Matrix function
674 Harman Kardon - Hi-Fi
Z0A Driver comfort package
508 Park Distance Control (PDC). front and rear
Now, the dealer told me that the Adaptive LED did the full beam splitting magic but all the threads I can find on the subject suggest that this isn’t true? I’m wondering if that’s the ‘matrix function’ that is listed?
Can anyone advise what functionality my car will have?
Kind regards
David

If you're buying it from Soper of Lincoln, it's my old car; certainly, it's the exact same specification, and the dates are the same.
As for the Adaptive LEDs .... the beams don't split, no 'voodoo' lights, just basic high beam assist.
Thank you. Indeed I am! Anything I need to know about it? As for the Adaptive LEDs .... the beams don't split, no 'voodoo' lights, just basic high beam assist.

Meant to mention, I replaced the rear tyres on 9 December 2017 - but the fronts are still fine: matching Bridgestone runflats all round.
Also, I removed the standard black tailpipe trims and replaced them with BMW chrome tips - because the latter contrast nicely with the black paintwork; however, if you would like, I could leave the black tips at the dealership tomorrow when I visit to handover the V5.
Thanks Derek, that would be very kind. I did notice the tips in the video they sent me and wondered why they weren’t black. If you could leave the black tips that would be very kind and would give me the choice. Thank you. Thanks also for the information re tyres, I’m a bit sad and OCD with vehicle provenance so any information is much appreciated.
Out of interest, what sort of use has the car had? Eg is it all road miles or has it seen any trackdays etc?
Thanks again
Dave
Thanks Derek, that’s really good to know. I too always ensure my cars are nice and warm before using the upper half of the rev range so it’s good to know that this one has been treated properly too.
I’ve been hankering for one of these for a while and originally intended to go for a sub 10k mile example but this one looked really tidy and well looked after before they’d even valeted it so that combined with the specification and service pack convinced me.
I’ve driven a few of these now and the acceleration surprised me, though I’m yet to drive a manual as most seem to be Auto which is a bit of a shame, you can’t beat a manual in a performance car IMHO.
Weather permitting, I’ll be travelling up tomorrow with a friend in his Golf R so it should make for an entertaining drive back if the roads are clear.
Thanks
