Just got this request from a friend. Any recommendations?
"I'm wondering if you have any recommendations for regular street tires for a BMW Z3roadster. I just bought a 2001 Z3 as a summer car, and its typical mileage will be spent 2/3 on paved-but-aging mountain highway roads (high crowns, unrefined surfaces), and 1/3 on freeways/smooth city streets. Right now it's wearing a set of off-brand economy tires and I'm not very happy with them. I'd like something that's responsive but smooth riding and relatively quiet, if that combination is possible. I enjoy a good zip around the mountain passes here but am not a high-speedster, i.e. I'll push the speed going around a particular curve but I don't care about going fast in the straightaways--typically don't drive above 70-80 mph except on occasional long road trips. Living in the mountains I'm sure to encounter some unexpected bouts of rain, but I do have an X5 to drive on days I know foul weather is coming in."
