How are people getting on with the stop-start function?

I've never tried one but I'm curious as to how sucessful this is in practice?

Presumably, you can you turn it off if/when you don't want it?

I'm thinking that it could be a right pain if you get into a hot car and immediately get into city traffic but you need the engin on to keep the a/c compressor going..

I've had a similarly frustrating experience in cold weather when leaving chilly ski resorts and your first 20 mins is all down hill and the car uses so little fuel that the heater never gets hot!

Presumably it be the same with ED if you get into a frozen car and then hit traffic and wern't able to keep the engine running?

P.S. Still haven't decided which ED model to go for or even if I should be looking at the more interesting (E)xcessive (D)isplacement models. ;-)

Mogul Boy, it's almost like BMW read your mind ! Engine will automatically start itself if necessary due to aircon, and will not switch off if engine cold / ambient temp too low.
They are too clever!
