Couple of 8 Series Question
Discussion
Took a look at an 840Ci Sport on Sunday with a full service history etc but..
1) The engine sounded distinctly tappety when started
2) There was a "soft" dent on the NSR quarter but very close to a crease
3) The split rims needed a refurb
4) The passenger door, when opened, dropped the glass as you would expect but the glass appeared to be out of alignment, almost as if it was dropping back in towards the car; there was a mark to show where it was making contact when dropped
This car was on 85k and was up for 7k although I suspect some movement would be available but the question is; looking at the above and assuming 1) is not indicating impending catastrophic failure would I be right in thinking that rectifying the other little points could easily cost 1k to 1.5k (Split rims refurb along could account 800 - 1k).
Is this a walkaway job because there will be another out there somewhere at say 8k with less miles and none of the nit picks above?

Many thanks,
I suspect I've found a better candidate that's younger in years and miles and has no "nit-picks". I've pushed the VIN through the BMW network and have been able to confirm a full service history and I'm fortunate in knowing a tame BMW specialist who has also obtained the build sheet information.
I'm now a member on 8er.org and have also had a good look round wuffer.net which has some solid information.
