Plenty of wildlife to hit in the Peak District. Narrowly missed a pheasant by feathering the throttle.

A friend of mine hit a fallow deer (a big deer) some years ago, really wasn't good, for either party.
Just about cut the deer in half, he broke both legs, pelvis, arm in multiple places, several ribs and spent quite some time in hospital, several months from memory (was about 20 years ago)

We were riding in a group of 6 or 7, the deer came over a hedge and landed almost directly in front of him, he didn't even get the chance to react in any way, which probably prevented the incident from being a fatal one for him, all in all it was a pretty unpleasant experience for all involved.

I had a Pheasant fly out of undergrowth fast & low and into my front wheel on the DRZ400....it skinned/decapitated it and spat it away in split second.

I saw it come out and go "under" the bike, felt a wobble through the bars then looked in mirror to see it tumbling in the road....I stopped and turned around to check the bird and the bike. There were guts, feathers and st all over the front rim, header pipe, engine and my LH boot...It smelled great by the time I got it to work biggrin

It could be worse

I was hit in the chest by a kestrel some years ago, stopped as quickly as I could. Looked back at the kestrel that looked as winded as I was! We watched one another for a couple of minutes, getting our breath back, then he flew off as I got up.

I've hit a pigeon in the chest before,(on a naked Bandit) and never felt it, but this is starting to ache like hell.
I'm not a big fan of Pidgeons, but I wouldn't go as far as punching one in the chest irrespective of the bike it was on.

I've had a wasp hit me in the face before (whilst visor was partly open for ventilation), and obviously didn't kill it as I could feel it crawling around my face. Fastest stop I've ever made on a bike.

Also had a seagull fly out of the central reservation of a DCW, and managed to duck down in time so it just clipped my shoulder.

I had a wasp hit me on the nose once, I was doing about 75 at the time. Which hurt nearly as much as when it woke up and stung me 4 times on the top lip. Lid off before I stopped I reckon.

First time I was stung, and as I'm allergic to insect bites, I wasn't sure if I needed an ambulance or not. I waited around 20 minutes, felt OK, so carried on.

Always keep your visor closed!

Was it your brother's kestrel, really? I bet you threw it in the dustbin afterwards...

This was a Pheasant strike.

You can see on this picture the impact has caused the glass to become so badly damaged it became detached from the bond.

The driver said he was only doing 30-40 but the pheasant hit an oncoming wagon and bounced off it. There were bits even in the boot. Lucky driver.

Thing with pheasants is they're too big and heavy to get any real height quickly, there was a road by us where an HGV would get hit daily at least.

I also saw a pigeon that had gone through a windscreen of a Nova, it left a red smear along the head lining from front to back. The fitter got a surprise when he put a sun visor down, a wing landed in his lap.
