Hi all

2 weeks ago I'd never ridden a bike.

On the 22nd March I did my cbt. Then Sunday - Tuesday had lessons and passed mod 1

Yesterday I passed mod 2

Today I have been out all day on my 09 Yamaha Fazer 600

What an experience. I've not got anywhere near the full performance. But have enjoyed my first full day so much!

So much mechanical feel compared to a car.

All the other bikers seem so friendly, all give you the nod as you go the other way!
Not sure why I'm writing this post, just thought I'd share my experience!

I'm based in Ashford, Middx. Anyone local?

Matt

Hello :-)
Welcome to Two Wheels!

Once you pass your test i can HIGHLY recommend going to do some IAM training. I'll teach you everything that the test doesn't (IE: How to actually ride properly) The TVAM (Thames Valley Advanced Motorcyclists) aren't that far from you. They meet at St Crispins School, Reading every 3rd Sunday of the month and allow you to learn over a few months worths of observed rides with volunteer instructors.

I'd also be a really great way of meeting other bikers + what i learned from these chaps saved my life on more than one occasion.

Cheerio :-)

Congrats OP, great isnt it biking. It just keeps getting better, but just treat all others like they're trying to get you & you should be OK. Cracking first bike too.

Thanks all.. Will update this thread in time. As I progress.

Plans are to keep the bike for a year, then upgrade to something faster.

Congrats OP...Wait till the addition really takes hold it only gets better from here, you'll find every spare minute will be spent out and about somewhere...it's bloody brilliant.

Then man maths takes over, like taking your bike in for a service and coming out with a brand new bike instead...Awsome.

I can remember my first day out on the road as if it was yesterday that was 32 years ago that feeling is just as strong as ever.

Safe riding...

Congratulations on your pass! It seems much more involved to get a full licence compared to when I did it, I admire the commitment of anybody who does it these days.

Like others have said, now you can start learning to *ride*! Look into further training, whether IAM, Rospa, Rapid or whatever. There is no downside to training...

Second on that, worth getting the book too. Welcome to biking OP, I've not been doing it long myself, but it's bloody great fun and it's something I've wanted to do for a few years. It's the most fun you can have with your clothes on I reckon.
