European breakdown cover
Discussion
ADAC always get very good write-ups.
Despite being a German organisation, they cover UK-based drivers, and for €80 (Yep, eighty Euros) I got roadside assistance, recovery and repatriation, anywhere in Europe, in any vehicle up to 3500kgs for me and Mrs CK for an entire twelve months.
Granted I haven't had to use them in anger yet, and some folk do report a bit of a battle getting repatriation if the vehicle isn't deemed economical to repair.
They have an English-speaking desk in the control centre in Germany and a reciprocal sub-contract with the AA for UK breakdowns.
Don't have the membership number to hand I'm afraid but Google has it.

I have used these for a number of years, and on the couple of occasions I needed to use them they were very good http://www.europeanbreakdowncover.com/

I've used them from the UK (using the AA) and also to recover cars off the Nurburgring (x2).
I have used ADAC on 2 occasions over the past 10 years to repatriate a vehicle back to the UK from France and Germany - one bike and one car. Both times, it was done with impeccable German efficiency.
However, it appears that ADAC have recently changed their membership requirements for new (not existing) members - new members must have a German address.

I used the AAa couple of years ago to cover a trip round Europe. I ended up having to use them when my regulator failed and cannot fault the service offered. They booked and paid for the hotel, the repairs at the local kawasaki dealer and even arranged and paid for the taxis to and from the hotel. Fantastic service and the best bit was the multi lingual operators who made sure everything was explained in full. I think that being an existing AA member gets you some kind of discount.
ADAC all the way here too. They repatriated our Defender 130 from southern Spain back to the UK, flew us home and were completely brilliant throughout. I can't praise them highly enough. And, as stated above, all for the princely sum of about €90 per year.
The membership process can be a bit of a PITA though - you need either a German bank account, or get a friendly German to pay them. Not having a German address hasn't been an an issue. They don't take non-German credit cards so I had to pay a little extra to pay BACS via my UK bank.
Still worth it.
link below is a little old but might be of help!

Indeed - and, frankly, they're the only game in town. I've never come across anybody else that'll do it for anything approaching that.Despite being a German organisation, they cover UK-based drivers, and for €80 (Yep, eighty Euros) I got roadside assistance, recovery and repatriation, anywhere in Europe, in any vehicle up to 3500kgs for me and Mrs CK for an entire twelve months.

We had the opposite problem... Our camper spat a driveshaft in France, and we got relayed to the VW dealer. They ignored it for three days, after which ADAC were actively trying to ship the van (and fly us) back to the UK. Small problem... We didn't want to go home, and they wouldn't even ship us home with it. All we wanted was to get it shipped to a friend's place 200km away. Nope. Could not do that. In the end, we lucked into somebody 50km away who came to the dealer, removed the shaft, took it home, tickled it to usable state overnight, took it back and fitted it, then we stayed with them whilst we did a few other jobs.I have recently joined ADAC and it was no problem.
You have to get ADAC plus membership (€105 I think for joint membership) and phone them up. You have to pay a couple of Euro more to use a credit card but all went very smoothly.
They told me to add my kids (for free) to get priority in event of a breakdown (I think they are covered in other people's vehicles too). They also cover any age of vehicle which helps a lot when you have some classics in the fleet.

+1. "ADAC plus" is needed for European cover, rather than solely Germany per their std cover. I renew over the phone using a UK credit card, no problem (using one of their English speaking staff). You have to get ADAC plus membership (€105 I think for joint membership) and phone them up. Thanks for the recommendation. Ive had a look at them, they are cheap but a quick google of them gives some dubious reviews I've never had to call them out but I have taken out their cover several times before.
