VFRs main competitor is the Sprint ST isn't it? The new 1050 looks and sounds lovely but I don't fit on it frown

For fun and long distance comfort you could always go taller GS/V-Strom/Varadero/TDM/etc not as quick as a VFR or Sprint ST in a straight line but supurb fun on the twisties

What about a late ZX9?

The ZX9 F2 lost all the lardiness the ZX9 was known for, kept its power and is a very capable bike. Very cormfortable, good mile eater, and reliable.

My father had one for 6 years until last week as there was nothing else offering the same sort of things his ZX9 did. after 6 years his bike was still mint condition and is for sale in a dealership now.

Budget is around 5-6k... that's my problem - too much choice and too little time to ride'em all!

I've been seriously considering this! But maybe a tad big/unwieldy for the urban part of my commute? Wish they would update the looks, but got a good friend who swears by his... the fairing protection offered will be nice through this winter.

On the naked front, leaning towards a CB1000R or Tuono... help!

Jesus. It must have taken some effort to get that up the ugly tree.

Agreed, in the spirit of things the ST is the VFR's natural competion,I like the Sprint ST a lot, much better engine than the VFR's and they handle.

I looked at VFRs, found it a bit slow and clinical, bought a Fazer1000 instead. Just had a riot doing 2500 miles in France last month, it was great. biggrin

Firestorms are ste compared to the VFR (I've had both) - crappy handling and no tank range.

I have owned a storm and borrowe a VFR many a time.

TBH it depends on what you want.
Later storms had bigger tanks but it spoiled the riding position IMHO

I took my storm to the IOM twice and never had a problem with the range or handling.

Hmmmmmm! scratchchin I think that the cost saving of the VTR will buy some pretty good suspension upgrades so that the handling is sorted. Later ones had a decent tank. Mine did me for 10 yeas as an all purpose bike and I thought it was great.

ok, I've discounted other bikes and it's going to be one of these 4:

Blackbird vs VFR

Tuono R vs CB1000R

Daily use, M25 into central London commuting... occasionally further afield... year round...

If you're considering at a VTR, I'd venture that an Aprilia Falco is also worth considering, particularly with an ohlins rear damper (although naturally I'm biased! wink). They're also available for very little money leaving you cash for shiny bits.

If you go for a VTR make an appointment with your dentist to check your fillings are in properlyor they'll fall out in a few miles!

Oh and BTW forget itallian st.

Freind bought an Aprilia RSV Mille and it constantly let him down.
He never even made it home when he picked it up new.
