How many times has your trusty steed let you down?
Discussion
Once at a petrol station where it wouldn't restart due to worn starter motor brushes finally giving up the ghost...my fault really - it'd been iffy for weeks. Had to ask someone to give me a bump start!
Once when it ran out of petrol...again, my fault - the light had been on for a good 45 miles.
That's it.

Christ...and I went for a reliable BMW..but have had
Immobiliser failure... Bike to dealer
2 X Run out of fuel even though the gauge said I had 20+ miles left
Air bockage in oil cooler, que recovery to dealer
The above actually stopped me in my tracks... then there's a long list of other stuff that has resulted in a replacement engine, and a whole host of warranty replacement/repairs. I guess my bike was made at 5pm on a Friday!

CBR600F - multiple battery failures due to the PoS alarm/immobiliser draining. One fuel due to my inability to turn back from reserve the last time I filled up.
04 Fireblade - genny failure left me stranded a couple of times before I figured it out![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
02 F4S - ECU playing silly buggers when the Meta alarm overheated. P/X![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
02 RSVR - never. 04 F4 312R - never. 04 Nera - touch wood, never.

14 - never, had punctures but goo or plugs have got me home ok. it almost fell apart in spain but rode it back with a loose front sprocket, duff steering bearings & dodgy front brakes.
stroppy - hardly ever nowdays. when i got her she'd be built by a 'professional' a few years before with bills to prove it. all i can say is god knows what hes a professional at but its NOT building bikes. took a total rewire, adding in missing parts like a regulator, modding the steering bearings so the adjuster worked, countless stripped threads etc etc. oddly enough now shes built properly she works much better & for longer. currently off the road with the engine in bits to sort the last of his cockups though.

only by punctures. I have a misfire at the mo that I cant get to the bottom of, but it still works. 6 years of mainly self maintenance, it's never let me down. (That's blown it.) If the point of this post is to show the reliability of our rides, then it works as so far it's pretty positive.

In the first 5 years I had my blade it was faultless. It then spat a plug taking the head thread with it which meant stripping it all down. The following two years were ok. This year I've had 2 stators burn out, a fuel pump burn out and the front fork casings crack (although this was supposed to be subject to a recall but I didn't get the letter).dern said:
