Kawasaki ZX6-R meets a Lexus IS200 performing a 'U' turn in the road just as i'm approaching!!

I was approaching this busy junction travelling at 60mph, I expected the worst so slowed to around 40mph. The Lexus was parked on the verge just after the junction pointing in the same direction as I was travelling. Just as I arrived at the junction he pulled out to do a U turn!!!

I braked and managed to reduce the impact speed to about 10-15mph ... looks like the bike is a right off though!!

I'm ok just a bit sore and stiff etc.

Ah well!! Be careful out there peeps!!

Glad you're OK.

Is that up on the B road past Ashton Court? Or am I falsely recognising things?

I'm glad to hear you walked away. At the end of the day, it's the ONLY thing that is important.

Yep .. about 8 weeks I think!!

I've been riding 3 years and that was my fourth bike rolleyes

Gutted because I really liked this one, I hope it's a right-off to be honest as I'm not too keen on having it repaired after so much damage!

Double good you're OK - that's a dangerous road, I've always thought. Rode out that way quite often when I was learning, and there are just too many unsighted little junctions, numpties with no obs and poor surfaces. Speeds tend to be quite high for the vis and potential dangers too, I'd say.

Hope all gets sorted for you quickly. smile

Unlucky - hopefully the claim will be straight forward for you with no denial from the driver!

I can't see that well from the photos but might it not be written off? It seems to be upper/side fairing damage & lights - that might just be OK. I can't tell if forks or steering were affected though.

There is quite a bit more than that which isn't visable from the pics:

Foot rests broken

Rear swing arm dented

Intake/clocks etc. smashed

Front wheel damaged

Rear cowls cracked/damaged

and a few other bits here and there

Glad you're OK; hope the tt in Lexus does not turn out to be a PITA when it comes to insurance.

Did the driver utter the immortal words?

Great anticipation, you are obviously an experienced road user. Just imagine a learner biker approaching that same situation and the outcome could have been much worse.

Did you get the "sorry I didn't see you" standard answer from the driver involved?
