Ok, so i've had my licence about 6 weeks and have been riding my Thundercat for about 3 weeks now. Leave work this afternoon in the pissing rain, bike didn't quite feel quite right but couldn't quite put my finger on it. Felt a bit wallowy and soggy. Put it down to my lack of experience in the rain and cracked on.
As the journey progressed it got worse, and worse....

Gave in and pulled into the BP... first port of call... tyre pressures.

In the back a whole 12... yes 12 psi yikes

That would explain the st handling.

Hoping i haven't got a puncture....

Any similar scary noobie stories to make me feel better and less of a tt?

dunno about newbie, but the same as your story but include 100leptons for about 10miles up a dual carriageway wondering why i was drifting several feet to each side. dunno how flat it was but when i came out of work that night it was utterly flat.
oh & been riding just over 18months, you'd think i'd have learnt to check tyres by now hehe

Wait until you pull away with a disk lock still on before you consider yourself properly stupid. Extra dunce points if you do it right outside a bike shop so plenty of bikers see you do it paperbag

Christ, where do I start!!

Dropping my new R6 with 4 miles on the clock.
Both sides of my front guard have bots missing where 2 disc locks have gone through
Spending £300 getting the suspension sep-up, only to do £3500 damage, smashing the bike up on the way home. Waited 2 months for it to return, only to smash it up again on the very first ride out.
There are many more...sat nav fell out of the cradle, and wedged itself somewhere in the front effectively acting as a steering lock. Putting leathers on outside my boots. Ear plugs the wrong way round, abba stand not secured properly, etc, etc.

So, don't feel too bad!

Anyway, it has a long straight, about mile and 3/4's followed by a 90 left, and i was powersliding it through the 90 left, when, yep you guessed it, the bh flicked back!!! this was followed by the usual ooh ya f"£$er moment!!paperbag

That was an excellent read! Top marks, particulary the Sat Nav!

May I add 2?

No1 - After the winter lay up I took my bike out for the first spring ride out of the year - forgot about the oil soaked rag I left on the exhaust pipe until a saw a large orange flame licking out under my leg, as I performed an emergency stop I realised id set the side panels alight, as I franticlly tried to unbolt the side panels with the OE toolkit other parts started to catch and by now I was ready to give it up trying to save it, luckily a AA patrol came into view and put it out BUT then I noticed id set alight the verge and it was spreading down the verge for some distance, cue 2 fire engines and a blocked A5D at Milton Keynes..

No2-After an enthusiastic night out to Chelsea Bridge in the late 80's I decided for some stupid reason to do a burn out in the toilets(being an equal ops chap, the Ladies loos) of Scratchwood Services, with a large crowd of bikers(and travelling folk) looking on I then decided to ride at speed over the big grass mound right in front of everyone ...and dropped it, smashed the fairing to bits in front of all of them..

I also got caught (again in the 80's)doing standing quarters at night on Milton Keynes (pushbike) redways..not an accident but by Christ I was dumb back then...

One of my less stoopid ones, but still cringeworthy nonetheless, pull up at lights on 350, spot fit girlies walking down road, go to give it big guns away from lights, stall it, and get hit by car behind and end up in a heap on the floor!paperbag Having re-read some of the posts, chilli's is pretty extreme!!

Hmm let me think.....

I have;
Dropped the bike (as soflty as possible) turning too slowly....

I have had the rear a little lower than you......twice frown

First got a puncture riding with some mates, the first corner felt a bit wierd, but thought it must have slipped due to something on the road, second corner it slipped a lot and I was lucky nothing was coming the other way as I nearly drifted into the ditch on the opposite side of the road. When I stopped to check it 0 psi. Fixed with tyre weld till I limped to a garage and got the tyre changed.

Second time I got another rear puncture on the fast lane of the M1, again fast deflation but I'd had it before so pulled over as quickly and safely as I could. Got picked up by a mate in his van.

I've also had the misfortune of a front puncture, thankfully a slow one, but it makes steering a lot harder.

Other than that, quite a few "moments"

Been wayyy to competitive was something I used to do......I've calmed down a hell of a lot now (I got pulled over by a couple of bike coppers doing silly speeds.....I only saw the bike headlights emerging from the tunnel and nailed it. I was very lucky and got let off that one).

Right then gentlemen (and mitzy) what lessons have we learned?

1) Don't be a berk
2) Take off your disk lock
3) Check your tyres.
4) Don't try and set fire to the countryside.
