It's all well when the engine is covered by warranty, who's going to fancy one when there's no comeback if it goes bang, most jap fours are reputedly good for 30-50k, time will tell if the beemer will do the same.
Really? I'd want them to last a lot more than that if serviced properly.blade7 said:

Despite assurances from Park Lane that all would be well, I'm at Aragon and it put a rod through the block after a couple of slow sessions learning the circuit. Dropped oil and coolant all over the rear tyre but fortunately didn't fall off. Not happy.
Oh.Bugger.

Just dropped mine off for 1st service and been informed of recall, but that parts are on backorder for 3 weeks. I'm due to have bike shipped to Motorland Aragon next Friday for 3-day long track-day. BMW Park Lane say they don't advise riding it. Don't know what to do. Called BMW Customer Service and they don't even know about the recall yet. Anyone got any experience of getting the bike fixed quicker than 3 weeks?
Pretty foolish to ride it knowing the risk to yourself and others imho.Hooli said:

+1. You are a cock for riding this on track, knowing the risks. Go break your own leg if you come off as a result. If I had suffered an accident as a result of your bike doing this, I think we would be having more than strong words.y2blade said:

Yep.Thankfully I no longer work in the trade.
The majority of the biking public take the "I know best attitude" then it all goes wrong and they want to point the finger!

You've got a good point but is there some kind of disclaimer signed on trackdays ?, if this happened in the U.S I reckon the fact one BMW person advised against riding it would mean the owner would end up living in a tent if someone else was injured due to the blow up.Edited by blade7 on Saturday 12th May 19:06

hi guys, just got back from my dealer, THE NEWS IS NOT GOOD. IT WILL BE ANOTHER 2-3 WEEKS BEFORE ANY PARTS ARRIVE FOR THE CONROD FIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it's three weeks today i got the call, if i havent heard anything by wednesday im going to start kicking off in the middle of the show room ranting about 13k plus down the drain. ( no way im going to get rid of bike but they dont know that) seems being polite isnt getting anyone anywhere, so lets see what sweeteners they offer when they want to shut me up in front of their potential customers. Like others ive had other bikes recalled and actually admire bike manufactors for identifying and sorting problems rather than pretending there not there, but this is taking the piss
