End(ish) of season PH trackday?
Discussion
Had a great time on Saturday and good to meet you all.
Would definitely be interested in another ph track day next year, it's alot more fun with a few of you in the garage.
But after this weekend, I don't think I will bother with novices again, even at tracks I don't know. It's incredibly frustrating at times and there's no fun passing people who are on track for the first time. I've done Inters at Donington and Silverstone and although I'm definitely at the slower end of the group, I usually pass a few people and I've never felt I am in the way.
So I will be joining R1 Loon as a committed Inters Rider next year...

On one hand I don't want to get frustrated with novices moving around erratically mid corner... But on other hand I don't want to get in the way in inters...
Got to admit novice looked painful yesterday...
I've done Oulton Park twice now both times in novices. There were a a few people quicker than me in the group but most of the people were what you would expect in novices: lots of very early braking, wrong lines around corners etc. which is of course what the group is for.Got to admit novice looked painful yesterday...

Fair enough ... that's pretty much sums it up for me really how I've felt the last couple times I have been on a track. I'm on a faster / better handling bike so once I've sorted my braking markers out I should be ok. It's been about 10yrs since last on track at Oulton and that was in a car! Plan for me is to get 1 or 2 track days in before Winter now that I'm relatively quick and confident on the R1 and then for next year it will be Inters only. Nothing like leaving it till the last minute

Nah. I can take the ribbing. I'm more frustrated that I can't get any more speed / comfort out of myself, but that's life. I'm too old to override the survival instinct that's taken over.
Bit of coaching sounds like the tonic you need Loon. Don't let one or two bad experiences put you off. You've clearly developed significantly to get this level and I remember the way you were buzzing after day 1 at Anglesey. There's nothing at all stopping you developing further, if you want to that is.StuB said:

I agree... IIRC Loon hasn't actually been riding that long in the grand scheme of things compared to some of the older farts on here? - Some of the fast group guys on here have been riding what 20-30yrs?Loon was going really well for the couple of agreed that laps I followed him. He made a couple of mistakes which I wasn't sure was because he knew I was behind him so I passed to take the pressure off.
If Simon isn't happy in that group then I say fair play to him, let he be and ride in the group he wants as TD's are about fun and he clearly wasn't enjoying himself in that group. He seemed much happier in the group he changed to.
Ask my Dad (fleegle) or Grandad. (Waveydave13)
