To see how hard he was pushing from the second he left was mega.
The TV coverage showed both ends of the bike drifting left as he pushed it into the bend at the bottom of Bray Hill.
He definitely set off to win that race.

That's a really good article. Possibly the best I've read about the TT.

Loving these sidecars, they are mental. In fact I'm loving everything about the TT!
they are bonkers fast, you'd have to be mad to be the sidecar passenger!

Done it a few times. Awesome fun hanging out on the left side watching a 10" slick smoking near your feet! Mucho hurty left arm after 5 mins.

If Hickman had not had a problem running to Glen Helen on lap 1, he would have been under 17mins for standing start lap on the Superstock bike.

Hickman 134mph on the Superstock.

He loses about 10 seconds on the first lap, then rides the fastest almost-2-laps on any bike that we have probably ever seen*, but then loses 5 seconds in the pits....

Hi, chunder

This is the information you are looking for - Superstock race:

1. Peter Hickman 10, 2018 BMW S1000
2. Michael Dunlop 6, 2018 BMW S1000RR
3. Dean Harrison 5, 2017 Kawasaki ZX-10R

The press conference will be on soon. Here's the channel link so you can watch it: https://www.youtube.com/user/isleofmantt/featured

'Tis (is) going to be one those' threads!

I don't want to agree with you as you've made your blinkered stance clear earlier, but here's your issue:

You say "another guy killed", as if he's just another number, just one more tick for your argument, nothing else.

Everyone following road racing says "sad to have lost Adam Lyons, great racer, full of promise. Rip mate"

Now can you go and petition for safer toasters or something?

Amazing few laps by Hickman, the top 3 were pushing all the way, and so far ahead of 4th place!

Listened in on Manx Radio TT, sounds like 2 brilliant races today. The speeds are unbelievable, what will it take to win the senior on Friday!

RIP Adam Lyon also :-(

Why are they that much quicker? Is the machinery new in any way?

I'll be honest, I'm a bit out of touch with the developments on the new model bikes so I'm sure someone will be along to correct me, but I think it's a combination of things, rather than vast improvements in the bikes solely. Those being, perfect weather conditions, particularly over practice week so the riders have been able to get dialled in nicely, riders who are now much more experienced on the course (Peter Hickman, Dean Harrison) and the increased competition as they are pushing on the more established competition like Michael Dunlop even more.
